Hi, have anbybody resolved the issue? I would like to set the mirrors to unfold after putting the ignition on, not right after unlocking the car. Sometimes, I need to grab something from the car without turning the ignition on and it is quite annoying that mirrors are unfolding and folding...Thx!

I wouldnt worry about it. Most modern day cars do this. It is like the indicators flashing when locking. That annoys some people and doesnt others.

What a weird thread. Nobody else is aware of this function apart from the OP's colleague.

Obvious solution is to ask colleague but he didn't do that?

Next weird thing is the menu says "Fold whilst parking". What has Parking got to do with folding being governed by ignition? Might as well be governed by locking/unlocking car.

And last weird thing is OP wants the mirrors to be controlled by the ignition and then posts a video to demonstate. But if you look at the video, when the key is removed from ignition, the mirrors do not fold in. They only fold when driver gets out car, closes door and locks it,  just like ever other car with folding mirrors.  That would suggest to me that the mirror is not governed by turning on/off the ignition.

If Sasha doesn't know, then nobody does. :D

On the occasions you don’t want the mirrors flapping out and in every time you unlock/ lock the doors turn the switch on the door to fold the mirrors in when you stop, and they stay in when the car is unlocked, well they do on my Kodiaq.

Guys, octavias MY13, maybe MY14 did it exactly as I would like to set mine (MY15). So, I unlock the car, mirrors stay in folded position. With turning the ignition on they unfold and I don't have to do anything with the mirrors' switch. @Kenny R, thanks for your advice, I have it as the last one if nothing else worked. I don't understand what is so weird about that, @Scot5. I would be very glad if I could set my mirrors this way. If not, life goes on. I lived without it for 2 years now, I will live without it another 2 years :)

I think it's quite logical behaviour. What is the purpose of unfolding the mirrors in case you don't even put the key into ignition switch? Does it mean I ended parking when I only unlock the car? They don't fold back in case you unlock the car and no door is opened in 30 seconds. So the sense of automatic folding when parking is lost in this case in my opinion.

Maybe, I will try to set folding of the mirrors so that they will react to signal from key fob, instead of auto folding. I had this setup on Passat B7, but I had to push the button for like 2-3 seconds. I will look at it in the next days and once I find the solution, I will share it :)

Did anyone find a way to code it like this in the end? I also think it makes much more sense to have mirrors fold when locked and unfold when ignition turned on.

My Amarok does this - mirrors fold when key is pressed to lock and then held down for a second; they only unfold when I turn the ignition on...

here you have a movie how it looks in Octavi 3 from 2013 and my question whether in 2015 it can be done and how

I would also prefer this way to minimize unnecessary flaping because motors in mirrors are crap.

So we have a 2017 Yeti L&K which does exactly what the OP wants and 2017 Octavia that does it on lock/unlock.   As we bought the Octavia before the Yeti and I've never owned a car with folding mirrors before having got used to how the Octy is it took me a year to realise the Yeti had folding mirrors at all!

Anyway it seems the older generation O3 cars worked the Yeti way maybe?   I expect that's the way the O2 worked?

I have looked into making the Yeti work like the newer Octavia and apparently this is not possible, so I guess making the newer cars work the "old" way probably isn't possible either.

My 2015 Octavia also does the mirror folding on lock/unlock.

All I can say is I coded it this way and it works as described. I lock the car and the mirrors fold in. I unlock the car, the mirrors stay folded until I turn the key in the ignition. Much better for when you’ve left something in the car and don’t want the mirrors pointlessly unfolding.

I used your guide and sashagrace's guide from the first page. Must be slightly different for pre-fl but thanks anyway. I changed the following 2 adaptions in access control 2 to not active and it worked on my pre FL 2017 Vrs. Chuffed that I got it working to only unfold when ignition turned on.

That adaptation channel doesn't appear in the 09 on my '05 Octavia 🥴

Thank you DeltaOscar. Mirrors not unfolding until the ignition was switched on always worked on my 2013 Octavia but not on my 2015 Golf. Now finally they work correctly on the Golf!

No problem. Not even sure what I changed but seems to work alright. Can't make sense of why VAG moved away from this setup with newer cars.

Only logical reason I can think of is the reason of puddle lights in mirrors.
