Columbus - Loss of Points of Interest

Featured Replies

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.

Noticed today on my Columbus Satnav  I seem to have lost Points of Interest Option ( POIs )  as an option when selecting a location, the option is just greyed out as is the option under Setup to personalise the " My points of Interest".

I haven't had any updates to any software or such tinkering,

The Sat nav otherwise seems to work normally ( inputting new addresses by postcode etc or stored addresses ) and music stored on the hard drive plays as before ( I only have a couple of albums stored so plenty of Hard Drive space )

Version inof shows HW version H23, SW Version 6270 , Map Version 8048.

A VCDS scan doesn't show any codes , so I am at a loss.

I have tried the reboot option - < > i and no difference

Any Idea anyone ? Corrupted data on Hard Drive somehow.

I got the car ( 2015 L&K ) 2 years ago and never got any Nav CDs with it

Suggestions appreciated . Thanks

Press "Setup", then touch "Navigation", then touch "My points of interest (PersonalPOI)" and see if it has "Details" highlighted or greyed out.

Hi " my points of interest " is greyed out in Navigation setup as i mentioned in my first post. Clicking on it doesnt change it , it still stays greyed out and inactive. Any further suggestions

Did you follow the steps in my previous post?

Yes I did what I think you mean . See images . Poi greyed out and map details too.

Most odd.

For what it is worth the software version numbers ( it's a 2014 car. A later mark 2 ).

Okay, so now try again.

Press the "Setup" BUTTON, (bottom right hand side)  and then follow the rest of the instructions I gave you.

Thanks for trying to help . Wherever I try to access points of interest including what you have suggested the option is greyed out and pressing it makes no difference.

I wonder if a corrupted file as found this as pictured further into the setup "secret " display. ( Hdd status )

Would reloading an appropriate firmware disc ( and then map disc as I hear using the furmware disc is likely to wipe the maps ) solve things by overwriting any corrupted Poi files if that is the issue ?

And this "Almanac"whatever that is on the GPS  section showing invalid

It does rather look like a software issue rather than mapping. The POI are stored on a separate HDD  partition to the maps (& music is also different), so it's also possible the hard drive if failing, but unlikely. Almanac status invalid is unlikely to be related to mapping as that data is stored in flash memory on the mainboard so it's pointing to software.

So on balance of probability updating with discs likely to solve it ? Sat NaV otherwise working ok and music on Hdd etc. It shows that I have 3 partitions on the HDD screens.

I'd say a software reload will sort it unless it's hardware related.

Thanks for your helpful advice.

Don't know if you have resolved the issue now or not, but my unit also lost all of its POI files and all related menus were greyed out as well. My service dept were unable to offer any help and then this year in desperation I purchased a new map update disc and installed it, when completed, it had also installed a new set of POI's and so everything is now working OK.
