@mac11irl Is there anyplace in your area or anyplace you go that has Demonstrators or Hire bikes so that you can be sure of exactly what you do want or need in frame size, bottom bracket height etc.

might give it a wipe down after its transport tonight, and for covid shared surface transmission reasons.

ill try and get the seat post height dialled in tomorrow, and if i get a chance do a lap of the block to settle in on the brakes (floating disc upgrade also done) and the feel of the gear shifters and stuff.

ill figure out the rebound setting too, and then dial that in on the trail monday

must go through the bag o goodies that i got with it later. manuals, warranty, receipts etc.

and the little mini tool kit that came with the bike for setup. 

 

guy i got it off seems to be really into his biking, only reason he sold was...

 

he bought it from a guy at 2months old who used it twice and realised it didnt suit his cycling. but my guy found out after getting to use it 3 times that he cant cycle it - he has cartilage damage in his knee, so had to get a e-mtb. my money from today is going into upgrading that. 

 

price new was around 1400-1500, us the pedals, grips, saddle, handlebar and floating disc brakes. 

 

i paid him 950

no, its not the distance.. the andlebars are a solid 6inches wider than the old one... itll take a couple of goes to adjust i think... as for the braking, just around the garden... holy god its like dropping an achor compared to the old cable rim brakes. dropper post is also nice and the schwalbe tyres feel huge

i think ill be happy up the hills Monday morning

but its lovely, brakes that stop, traction in the wet grass, so much smoother downhill with the bigger tyres and a shock absorber!

 

not as fast on the flat without the 3x on the crank end though, but ill get over that
