Front Headlight Base 1Z0 941 340

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I came here for an advice as it might someone know how to remove the front headlight base? I looked into Skoda service manual and there is only mentioned how to adjust it before attaching head lamp itself but I could not find any information how to remove the base it self. Do I have to remove front bumper?

Thanks for any tip or advice

Unless the VRS under-bumper is very much different to the standard Octy mk2 these notes should help.  They're based on our 07 preFL Octy.

1. This parts diagram shows the metal roughly L-shape mounting bracket - part 2.

2. This parts diagram shows the metal and plastic assembly in your original post - item 19, what I refer to as the headlamp carrier.  Items 20-24 go together to provide the up/down adjustment to fit the headlamp itself into the car body; you say you have the relevant manual section about adjusting this (they're a pain) so that should make things easier.

3. Fitting the headlamp carrier to the metal bracket involves assembling the screws loosely through the plastic adjusters and into the threaded plates underneath.  You then slide the carrier onto the metal bracket, locating the tongue on the carrier into the raised slot at the rear of the bracket.  Once in place you need to adjust and secure the mount, which is something I had to guess at.  If you have the official manual your life should be a lot easier :) BTW care to share (says he, pretty please?).

You shouldn't have to remove the bumper completely but you may need to loosen it at one side if you can't get the headlamp carrier to slide onto the bracket.

These photos are of the under-wing on our Octy whilst I was fixing its bruised nose:

Thank you for your post. It’s very helpful!👍 I have service manuals in Czech language so if you don’t mind I can upload somewhere and send you link?

That would be excellent; thank you!
