In car Hotspot. Octavia 245 Admunsen Unit

Featured Replies

I'm trying, with no success, to connect my car to my iPhone hotspot.

I've been into the manual but to no avail I cannot get it to connect.

Can anyone explain in Idiot proof terms please  to get my hooked up

Thanks in advance

AG

The title is a bit contradictory with the post.

Are you trying to connect your iPhone to a hot-spot broadcast by the car or are you trying to get your car to connect to a hot-spot broadcast by the iPhone?

I'm trying to get the Skoda Connect to work,I have an activation code. Not being very technical minded Im assumed I need to to connect my car to my iPhone to create a hotspot.

Ok.

Yes, for Skoda Connect you need to be broadcasting a WiFi hot-spot from your iPhone, then set up a 'WAN' connection on the Amundsen to connect to that hot-spot.

Are you on EE? There used to be issues with successfully achieving this basic step with EE on iPhones.

I can't remember the steps after that for enabling Connect, though I seem to recall the website giving me fairly clear step by step instructions about what codes to type in where when I set up my free trial of Connect.

Don't get too upset if you can't make it work, the basic Connect package (infotainment online) is crap really.

Yep, I'm with EE. Which web site did you go to please

Skoda Connect Portal

If you can't get the connection to work from your phone, if you park close enough to your house you could connect to your home WiFi. This would allow you to update online destinations but not live traffic/weather for example.

In the village where I live the Mobile phone signal is non existent, would this have an affect on the Wifi connection.

Not on the WiFi itself but what the car needs is a connection to the Internet, so if your signal isn't good enough to give a solid 3G+/4G data connection, it won't work, the WiFi will just be providing a dead end network.

That's ignoring the issues with EE and iPhone not being able to do this reliably with Skoda Connect anyway.

Thanks for your help, I think the poor phone signal is the problem. Next time I'm out and about and get a good phone signal I'll park up and have a play

Again Thanks

** UPDATE **

I've got it working, I connected  my 245 using my home wiFi.  Looks like its the lack of a mobile signal.

Suggested you try that 45 minutes ago 😋

It is a bit naff though, Škoda Connect. I can’t say I’ve ever used it for anything!

If you're on EE you'll probably find that you struggle to connect to Skoda Connect via your phone. I had no issues with other networks, but due to some configuration issue at EE's end, Skoda Connect will often not connect.

Ouch 😏

There  are two major issues here.

1. iPhone

2. The owner... 😂

iPhones work great with Skoda Connect, it's just not a particularly useful service, more so now CarPlay exists.
