Odometer stuck

Hello! I had this problem once, when i bought the Felicia 1.9D 1999, however the car stand prompt to fix it. They said the problem was lack of lubrification in the gears. The speedometer works well, every other sensor seems to be alright. But the odometer stopped registering the kilometers. Both partial and total. Sometimes it cames up to life and counts 1km ant then stops again.

Has this happen to anyone? Is it easy to fix or should i leave it to a mechanic?

It sometimes happens, some gear in mechanism is probably partially stripped.

Just get some replacement instrument panel. It's possible to switch only speedometer, so it doesn't matter which variant you'll get.

If i manage to get a replacement, is it possible to change the kilometers to match the ones of my car?

That is one of the lamest lie from a garage I've ever heard.

 

There is no lack of "lubrication"  or stripped gear. It is simply a sprocket that has to be pushed back in its correct position.

Well, truth is if i punch the tablier it starts counting again until reaching 1km then gets stucks again.

 

So, if i manage to reach that blue axle and push it back, problem solved? Or is it going to get out of place again.

Yes, after RicardoM explanation it now makes sense.

 

I'll try to open the odometer. Should i take some precaution when dismantling or is it as easy as taking out screws, pushing the blue axle back to its place and put all back together again?

Before taking out the needle of the speedometer, you have to move it by hand to 50 km/h then mark the position of the two disks on the back (see photo) with a marker. When putting back the needle, push it just a bit on the axle, move it by hand to 50 km/h and check the alignment of the two lines. If the lines don't align, take out the needle and insert it in a slightly rotated position. Check the alignment again. When the lines are aligned, push the needle all the way down. This procedure is mandatory for having correct indication of the speed after assembly.
