Who did the map mate

It's an Irish based tuning business so not sure if too many will be familiar with them. I've had my last 4 cars done there though and never a problem. Put 60k on my 520D after it and never a peep out of it.

Fair play mate it’s nice when you can find a good reliable tuner. The 190 defo needs a map lol. Surprised they didn’t put the 240bhp bitdi in the sportline 4x4 that would have been beautiful

Conor......I take it you are in Ireland?

I have a 2WD 190 DSG and was considering a remap...................well maybe jusy throttle and gearbox. Who did you use and what typeof sheckles??

Would love to meet up and sample your remapped car. I travel from Naas to Kerry on a very regular basis, at least once a fortnight.

No bothers. I'm based just outside Limerick on the Clare side so if you want to give a shout sometime and have a look then no problem. You're in luck with who I used as they're just off junction 14 not far from you. I'll pm the details.

Depending how you go to Kerry then might be handy meet up.

I have the bitdi in my Passat remapped to 290bhp with gigantic torque, it's a road rocket and i say that coming from a  VRS 2.0 TFSI Ko4 conversion car! pity they didn'y put it in the Superb.

I keep pondering on getting my stage 1 remapped and have the throttle tuned to Audis standards ..or add a pedal box ..

I drove a Volvo V90 yesterday which has a similar output to the Superb ...mine minced it in standard tune

I put my foot down n the Volvo (as directed by the employee ) the throttle response was better than the Superb but I didn't get that intial surge , it made a lot of noise bit after a while I looked down at the Speedo and it was reading 60mph, I was kinda shocked. I drove the same stretch of D restricted road on the way home and at the same marker point I was doing 75 as my limiter warning message appeared .....

It would seem not engines are made equal .....

But I think the hike in insurance will be considerable as I've only have my licence 5 years and my insurance has only just shipped under £900.....

Christ knows what it will increase to ....but I reckon 220bhp is the ball park / sweet spot ....

Been looking at Race Chips but as I haven't the foggiest about what's good and bad around tuning so more research will need to be done...

Hey Dan

I rang my insurance company yesterday who basically laughed at me, said there is no chance they'd cover me and left it at that 😞  Its insured with Debenhams

It took me about 15mins to get them to understand what I was asking..

"Hello, I am looking at getting my car re-mapped, I haven't done it yet, but just want to get a feel as to what difference it would make"

"Remapped ??"

"You know, chipping it / tuning it''

"Oh, okay, let me check on that for you"

** Wait 5 mins on hold **

"Hello, Im sorry but we don't cover for chips and scratches"  😡

"No, I want to make a modification to the power out/engine using a offical remap company"

"oh, well that would invalidate your insurance"

"Yes, I know, hence why I am calling to get my policy amended"

"Let me check on that for you""

********** Wait another 10mins on hold   """"""""""""""""""

"I'm sorry, we can't do that, it's illegal to modify your car without telling your insurance first"

FFS  😡

My policy isn't due to elapse until Jan 2020, looks like I'll have to wait out till then as Christ knows what it would cost to terminate my policy early..

Ah,, the small print , so £75 to get out of it and get a refund for the remainder is how I read that one

Outside the 14 day cooling off period Our insurance policies are arranged for an agreed period of time and you are required to pay the full amount stated. Where the insurance policy is cancelled other than within the cooling off period and provided that you have not made a claim or a claim has not been made against you, we will return to you the amount that you have paid us, after deducting: Debenhams TOB V15 Page 6 of 9 • A pro rata deduction of premium for the time that you have been on cover, unless your policy is underwritten by an insurer where short period premiums apply. • Our broker arrangement fee. • A £75 cancellation charge as set out in the ‘Policy and Administration charges’ section of this document. • The full cost of all add-on products that you purchased. • Where applicable, the Direct Debit arrangement fee. • If a discount was applied when you took your policy out, this discount will be deductible from any return premium due on a pro-rata basis. Where the amount that you owe exceeds the amount that you have paid us, you will be required to make payment for the outstanding amount within 14 days. Failure to do so may result in Debenhams taking steps to recover the debt.
