You're not wrong...

R-Line Edition 272ps 4Motion TSI

:)

Very nice indeed.

I'm sure they will get the steering wheel on the correct side by the time you get it. :)

How long to delivery?

Looks like you're in undertaking business. Fastest "delivery" in the UK.

Just kidding, good luck. What an upgrade.

Hopefully about 14 weeks to delivery...it's only just become available.

That would be a Volkswagen 'Passed-away' :giggle:

Just jumped on the configurator to check it out and see what options were available, etc.  You can tell it's new; there are fields on the 'Options' page which are obviously meant for internal use only.  Whoever made that page live wants sacking.  Shoddy QA....

I don't suppose you've gone for the heads up display?  And if so, does that work with a heated screen?  I recall seeing something on the Passat configurator about  a year ago wherein the HUD and heated screen weren't compatible.

TBH, the configurator is a mess!

I haven't added any options, there doesn't seem to be any available - even though the configurator says otherwise, heated SW and front and rear seats are standard apparently...we'll see.

I will miss the heated screen and pano roof, neither are available on this spec it seems. Not deal breakers though.

I actually priced up Superb Sportline Plus and L&K to the closest similar spec and they were dearer...

The R Line Edition also has Travel Assist as well as Traffic Jam Assist, DCC, ACC, adaptive/intelligent LED headlights, electric boot, etc etc as standard.

No brainer then.  I think the Passat still has the edge over the Superb for overall quality, especially the interior.  It's very similar to the Sportline spec in that I wouldn't have gone for a Superb if it wasn't available and similarly with the Passat and R line edition spec....

I really like the gloss black Pretorias and gloss black trim, makes it looks a little more aggressive but still quite under stated.

Please post some pics when it arrives.  I hope the delivery and collection goes smoothly for you.  That's defo something to be excited about.

Very nice, shame it's on the wrong side of the £40k 'luxury car tax' VED threshold.

Gorgeous...............

But wow......43 grand !

No wonder I like it...!

Just over a decade ago I went to order a Suberb but due to waiting times I ended up getting a Passat and after that one I bought another two.

The second one I bought new and my Father in Law still has it. Nine years old and 110k miles and it still looks and drives like new.

Certainly a major step up over the Octavia, yes there's a major step up in price but you can see, hear and feel where all that money went.

After fleet discount has been applied and claiming half the vat back (as it's a business finance lease purchase), it will end up costing under £33k all told... :)

I'd been in the market for a GTD Golf estate before I bought the Octavia, however was very tempted by a Passat GT estate which actually worked out cheaper than the Golf. Huge discounts going thru a broker at the time. The base price was £20500, adding the 19" alloys and audio upgrade brought it to just under £22k. The car came with digital dash ( which I didn't like) and pano roof as standard.

Lovely cars, much better built than Skoda ( little road noise ) and doors shut with a 'thud' rather than a 'ping'. And it's one of the very few cars that for me was as practical as the Octavia estate ( at any price! ). Actually that's not true, the Passat is very slightly less practical - it may be a larger boot but has only one floor. With my Octavia, when the floor is in the upper position, there's still carpet underneath thus creating another loadspace - when the floor is in the upper position on Passat, it's straight to the spare wheel well below.

You'll obviously have your own particular purchase criteria but you can buy that car for £33856 at DriveTheDeal. Not sure if you'd still be leigible to claim back half the VAT on that particular deal but if you were, that'd take it down to around £30k.

Looks smart. Can't be too many people buying a Passat with 272ps either so imagine it will be on the rarer side.

Up until quite recently I think the only choice a Passat buyer had was 1.6 or 2.0 diesel.

Apparently they are only producing 2000 of the R Line Edition; that includes a 240bhp TDI engine option and left hand drive cars for Europe etc., so can't imagine there will be loads of them about. Should help residuals too.

Less paint = less weight = more speeeeeeeeed

Looks like it could be longer...VW say the factory isn't accepting orders yet - hopefully 1st September they say, WTF, it's on the website and they'll take orders?

Ah well, it should be worth it.

Oh, and Moonstone Grey is the only colour available.
