Looking at getting a MkII. Can anyone tell me what this is or why you need it?

Not a great photo. Looks like an after market phone thing. Just wondering why someone like that would be needed when the car has it built in already?

It's a Parrot.

Thanks AG Falco

You're right. Is that a big improvement on the built in skoda hands free?

Doubtful since it's a standalone device. That car has a Columbus headunit so should support full Bluetooth integration using the built-in Bluetooth module under the driver's seat. I'd be asking some pointed questions about why the Parrot unit is there since it suggests a modification by someone who didn't know what they were doing or couldn't be arsed doing the correct repair/replacement. Neither would give me much confidence in the rest of the car.

Yeah, car didn't look the cleanest. Infotainment picture, it actually looks grubby. Missing badge isn't a big problem, but if the dealer canbe arsed to spend a fiver on a new one, it's not a good sign.

Did every Columbus come with that (business?) bluetooth device that allows connections without troubles even to dual SIM phones?

I remember some people replacing that bluetooth for a better version because rSAP does not work with dual SIM.

I'm new to the whole Skoda thing, (I'm trying to buy a mkii superb at the moment) but seems to be a few Bluetooth issues based on threds here. Could be a company car and someone was sick of bluetooth issues and just installed the parrot.

Anyway, I'm based in Ireland, looking for one in the UK and think I'll save my £200 on a vehicle inspection on this one.

Most Bluetooth issues people have are more down to incompatibility with some phones than anything else, mostly with very early versions of the Bluetooth module. Like any other component on the car, the module can fail but it's not a difficult job to replace it, and replacements are easy to find on eBay.

Yip but they can still be very pricey which means owner might of opted to fit a parrot

I know of one such other car as the price for a "e" revision was close to £400 second hand so I got him a second hand parrot for about £40

I think you're right.

Forgetting the missing badge, the exterior shots which look OK (mind you, I have that cappuccino colour and it hides dirt and scratches in photos very well!)  - everything in the interior says "Couldn't be arsed".  In real life it will look 3x worse and pics don't let you smell....

Yeah, it's the interior colour and trim I wanted. Exterior color too. But I reckon I'll wait a while and see what else comes up, color isn't that big a deal. Just hoping to avoid silver. The fact that they couldn't be arsed wiping a cloth over the screen is very worrying

I have a Parrot CK3100 (the one in the pic I think) professionally fitted in my Nissan Murano.

And it's garbage. You pretty much have to shout to be heard. And the "phone volume" of the Bose stereo is at Max level and it's still hard to hear.

I could have a bad one, but i would not pay for one of these, or rely on them in any sort of important situation.

If you need a Bluetooth phone in your car I'd look elsewhere. Even one of those stupid things over your ear you can stick on if the phone rings would be preferable!

I didn't have a Bluetooth module in mine so that one might not have one hence the Parrot addon which is a great unit and is also voice controlled.

It'd be pretty peculiar for an Elegance spec model not to have the BT module, unless a previous owner had removed it.

Thanks for the information lads. As much as I wanted this colour inside and out, the car looked a bit rough so I stuck a deposit on a different one.
