To " @skywalker070369 " - It is shocking.. How many Kilometers is the Car? Do you disassemble it alone? Is it hard to do?

morning, 270000.00 miles.

Yes mate it took me about 1 hour to do but to be honest it wasn’t that bad to do i would say it’s certainly a novice can do.

270,000 miles is good going.

What did you use to clean it?

What exactly is that valve?

It is not the EGR, because that would be in the back of the engine beneath the turbo?

Evening, 270000.00 miles.

Yes mate it took me about 1 hour to do but to be honest it wasn’t that bad to do i would say it’s certainly a job even a novice can do.

The item circled in red is the throttle body and i used  brake and clutch cleaner to clean it out.

Where the light after clearing the code would come on after restarting the car normally so far it hasn’t come back on

Full strip down and mod here from last month to reduce this happening again

A great read for everybody

May I ask here about the flows?

I edited the picture.

The green "1" pipe leads to the EGR valve and cooler correct? What is the flow direction here?

From EGR beneath the turbo on the back of the engine to red marked valve?

What is the flow direction of "2"?

From red circled throttle valve through that black rubber pipe to ... engine?

Means, the stream from EGR is mixed with fresh air from Mass air flow sensor and filter, correct?

I

Connection 1 in your image is where the EGR flow enters the intake manifold. Flow is going from the small pipe into the manifold.

Connection 2 is the main air intake pipe into the manifold through the intake throttle. At this point it has been through the turbo and intercooler. Flow is going upwards from the rubber pipe into the manifold.

thank you,

does that mean, the flow from EGR valve does not touch the red circled throttle valve because intake is afterwards? so these deposits come from somewhere else?

It'll depend on the pressures and flow within the system at various loads/rpm.

At least in my head, it certainly seems plausible that some exhaust gas/carbon will make it back into the throttle valve.

The insert in the intake manifold points down at the throttle valve. Hence the mod to spin it around.

Thank you,

does that mean, all that filth is indeed coming from the EGR, and only from EGR?

EGR and oil mixed in from the crankcase ventilation system.

To " @Tech1e " - What is the long-term solution for this kind of Problems?

He answered that in his previous post.

Which is shown in more detail in the thread mentioned by DEL80Y.

Simples :D

I've just done the EGR mod on mine and cleaned the throttle body. Very little gunk on the throttle body (just a think coating really), but once it was out it didn't make sense not to clean it up. The EGR port was pretty clean too, just a bit of soot in the end of it where the flow stagnates. Poked out the gunk with an awl and cleaned it up with brake cleaner.
