Octavia mk1 steel wheels on Fabia Mk1?

Hi,

We have a Fabia Mk1with 16 inch alloys, which I assume a OEM Skoda.

Were looking to potentially stick some winter tyres on steels, but want to go with 15 inch steels.

I’m guessing these are probably 5 x 100, which if I have understood correctly would then mean mk1 Octavia and Passat steels would be suitable? What about steels from a later mark of Fabia or did they change to 5 x 112?

Can anyone confirm please?

Thanks

I don't think any Passat wheels will be 100 PCD, better stick with Fabia MK1 or Polo 9N 14" wheels for winter use - that was the sort of wheels I bought for my wife's old 2002 9N Polo, maybe with 185/60 X 14 tyres.

Mk 2 wheels are ok, wheel sizes are basically the same including the ET on the 6Jx15 wheels.

This is worth looking at:-https://www.wheel-size.com/size/skoda/fabia/

The ET is wrong on the Mk1 Octavia and the earlier Passats are 4 stud.

I'm using 185/65R14 tyres on 5Jx14 ET35 steel rims.

185/65R14 has a similar outside diameter to 195/55R15 and 205/45R16. 185/60R14 has a smaller outside diameter to 205/45R16.

This 5Jx14 ET35 5x100 57.1 rim was used on many VW group cars, including Skoda Fabia 1, Skoda Fabia II, and Skoda Fabia III. You can use many tyre sizes on this rim including 175/65R14, 185/60R14, and 185/65R14. Out of these three tyre sizes, 185/65R14 will give you the most comfortable ride.

185/65 R14 might not necessarilly be giving the best grip / handling obviously, but they will give some air beneath your wings.

The narrow tread / rubber on the road might be good in aquaplaning type torrential rain and snow with the right treads.

Horses for courses and concidering the brake horse is worth a thought.

On my vrs I currently have 195/55 r15 on mk2 fabia steels.

Fits fine over the brakes handles fine, looks a little quirky.

Initially bought them for £45 from Ebay with the idea of putting winter tires on them, but 10k+ miles later I srill have over 5mm of tread left to burn through.....
