Front Wings... A straight answer by someone who may have done it...

Featured Replies

Good evening.

I have an August 1998 registered Skoda felicia 1.3L.. I presume this is the face-lift model as it has the chrome badges on the back, the face-lift grille and headlights etc.

My front wings are shot, holed and corroded but the car is in good nick otherwise.

My question is this. What is the actual difference between mk 1 and mk2 wings?

I have a chance of a pair of brand new from the dealer skoda wings (1994-1998) and they are screaming pre face-lift, however I can't see any difference. The mk1 and mk2 have the same front indicators so no issue with them fitting the holes, the repeaters look in the same place..

So will they fit straight on? Yes or no?

This is a hatch, not a pickup or other variant.

If it helps, I've included the boot sticker to hopefully be able to identify the year of manufacture. I've had so many problems with parts for this car due to it being on the changeover year...

Thanks guys.

Afaik, only difference between pre-facelift and facelift are small cuts, which hold small panels under headlamps. Nothing that couldn't he done.

But there are 2 pre-facelift variants: for non-reinforced body (<1995) and reinforced body (from 1995). Wing for non-reinforced body doesn't fit. Do you know part number of new parts?

"Reinforced" wing is 6U0821021/2 for both pre- and facelift models.

Part number which keeps coming up as an equivalent for both 94-98 and 98-2000 is

SKODA OE - 6U0 821 021

https://m.onlinecarparts.co.uk/hd-karosserieteile-7039450.html

If you look in the drop down menu under skoda it fits both marks of felicia.

And when searching ebay for both marks, this number always pops up...

See eBay listing 293238530362 for 95-88

And 272875688755 for 98-2001

Both have 6U0821021 in OE part numbers if you check description.

Thanks

Every seller will tell you the parts they sell will fit or they are equivalent. Truth is only original Czech parts will fit perfectly according to year of manufacture of the car. Any third party body parts are slightly different.

One more thing, your car is nowhere near any confusion for being manufactured in the "changeover year". The facelift started precisely on January 1st 1998 and it wasn't a gradual process.

Thanks for that... These are genuine skoda I have committed to which are as images...

Mine is a face-lift... Will these fit?

Minor modifications is fine, I just don't want them no where near.

Nobody can tell you for sure if the wings are OK just looking at those photos. Yeah, part numbers are OK but ultimately it is YOUR call. I hope you understand it is only your responsibility to decide.

This comment speaks volumes though.

If that part number cross references to my part number which it does, all I have to do is check if my wings are reinforced which they should be.

Thanks guys, I can't leave 2 brand new wings for £45 the pair even if I do have to slightly modify. Looking at all the images though, I'll take my chances.

Papez put quotation marks when he wrote about "Reinforced" wing. He didn't mean the wing is reinforced. He meant the wing fits a reinforced chassis (after 1995) for Felicia. See below.

Well it appears the wings I have interest in are not reinforced.

I know you sent me the above image RicardoM however are all mk 2 fellys reinforced body? If so, they are not gonna fit.

Your help has been brilliant so far, I don't wanna end up with a pair of useless wings and having to purchase twice...

Is there another way of checking for a reinforced body? I'm sure I read somewhere that later models were reinforced.. Not sure where, could have been wiki.

Thanks

There are NO reinforced wings on ANY Felicia. There is reinforced chassis from year 1995.

In other words, on the market there are 2 type of wings: for Felicia without reinforced chassis (before 1995) and for Felicia with reinforced chassis (from 1995).

What is reinforced chassis is shown in the illustration from my previous post.

I can't be clearer than this.

I know it's out of topic but according to your judgement do you think that the reinforced chassis would make the car safer?

Yes RicardoM, you are clear.

You've already seen this but it contradicts what you are saying.. This is a man from skoda but that doesn't count from hands on experience.

You seem very knowledgeable.

I think I will wait till the winter is over and chuck it in the bodyshop and let them figure it out.  I know the ebay part finder isn't always accurate but hey ho.

Thanks for your help.

I've read what that ''knowledgeable" man from Skoda had to say. But when he mentioned he has no longer access to Felicia parts catalogue, his knowledge/will to help dropped to zero. Why? Because there are dozens of websites that have all the information readily available for any Felicia. In fact we have a pinned topic Online catalog with PART NUMBERS and ILLUSTRATIONS right in this section of the forum. I created that topic more than 4 years ago to help other fellow members. Many other members helped with updated links.

Here is the proof.

Thanks RicardoM, Yes, that's good information.

Seeing as you know your stuff, can you identify if this is reinforced from these images.. Best I can get.

If I put my hand up under wing there are 3 grommets corresponding to the holes on the shell image you posted. If I pull a grommet out and poke inside, there is a fresh metal skin. Am I right in thinking that if this wasn't a reinforced chassis, without these grommets I'd be directly under the hood somewhere around the top of the strut?

See what you think..
