Rear seat belt warning chime

Featured Replies

Greetings

I've tried a search but there are hundred of topics for rear, seat, alarm, chime etc. but not for all of them put together, so apologies if I've missed a previous topic on this..

I've had my 2014 140SL Superb II FL Combi now for 4 years and have I noticed yesterday that there is no rear seat alarm alarm chime (my sister was sitting on the rear seat on a journey and when we arrived at the destination she was surprised to find she hadn't had her belt fastened).

The manual only mentions a chime when the front seat belts aren't fastened so the question is " should the chime work for the rear seats"? It's not a major problem as it's taken me four years to notice it, so it's more curiosity really.

Not on mine either nor any car I know of.

It does seem odd.

Thanks superbdreams, it certainly does seem odd.

After I wrote this post this morning I had a terrible thought.

For 4 years I've been driving the grandchildern around in the back and, with no warning chimes, I assumed they were fully belted (so to speak) and safe. Who knows? We all know how "brave" small children are; liking to get one over the grownups without thinking of the consequences.

Later models get a visual representation of rear seat occupancy and seat belt use, but nothing audible.

@Charade

Sensors are only in front seats and react to weight/pressure.

What @jafo says above is definitely how mine works - only front sensors and its a late model Elegance where Skoda was throwing most of the bells and whistles at it in order to shift them because of the Superb III.

The manuals for the Superb II have nothing about rear seat occupancy sensors or warnings of any type.

I think that when @silver1011 said that "Later models get a visual representation" he probably meant the Superb 3 and his Kodiaq era cars, rather than later MY Superb II's.
