Bird mess - Clean Cars - Why???

Featured Replies

:orb_angry

Okay, its just not funny anymore.

Spent AGES washing and polishing the furby yesterday. Opened my front door first thing this morning to this mess....!!

Why do birds insist on doing their droppings only on clean cars? There are three dirty cars in close proximity to mine, yet they chose the clean one!!

Is there any sort of scientific explanation for this? I've heard it might be something to do with them seeing their reflection...?

I've heard to a bird a shiny car looks like a body of water. ;)

This is nothing. Wait till a Swan from Germany lands on it and starts coughing and sneezing!!

I think it's called 'Sod's Law'. :P

the jet wash on the estate does a roaring trade  I quite often have

to visit it on the way home and have a quids worth ...... trouble is now with

summer coming on the stuff sets like concrete in a couple of hours ....... :thumbdwn:

I think a nest of machine guns would make a better job :)

You spend hours washing and cleaning your car and then mother nature deals you a nasty lesson. I spent three and a half hours getting my car looking amazing, only for it to rain the next day with a sand/water mix!

In the birds defence it looks like it had held on for as long as it could, just be grateful it wasn't one of those balti specials....:o

Apparently bird cack is acidic and can damage paintwork if not removed.

It could have been worse.....

Last summer I spent the day cleaning the car, then on my way back from work I was also used for target practice by a seagull. This was no ordinary a strike though....

The damn bird came from nowhere swooped down in front of the car as I was driving along at about 50mph and let go right in front of me. All of which would have been midly frustrating, had it not been for the fact it was a sunny day and I had the window down!!

You do the maths.....

(Fully loaded Seagull + Gravity ) x 50mph + open window + direct strike with wing mirror = soddin' birdcrap everyhere!!! Some inside some outside

:D

All I can say is that I was glad I was wearing sunglasses as otherwise I could have been blinded and the white shirt was a write off!!

Target practice - shiny cars stand out more as clearer targets!

I wonder if mini's with a target roof get more crap than others?

Bird crap can eat into the paintwork, or at least the laquer. Best practice is to get it off soon as.

Same thing with multi storey car parks, the lime that can drip out of the concrete, especially the older ones, will eat through the laquer within a v short period. If when you've parked up, and see a stalagtite or mite above or below your car, move or have a set of lovely blemishes like I ended up with on my car at the time.

why does it happen?

They see your car and say to themselves "holly **** thats shiny" and promptly carp on it.

Best cure I have found for removing, put a ball of kitchen roll into a container, soak it on tap hot/warm water, place the soaked ball onto the bird mark, leave to soak for 5 mins, and then just wipe l;ifted carp off, without scratch or brute force.

Hope this helps those driving through target ranges.........

I thought someone was gonna say there was a brilliant Meguire's product to stop them!! :P

you mean like a tabby feline? :D

Not unless they make a nice 12 gauge side-by-side!

What bothers me is that they poop on the move. It would be like us doing it whilst running

Not the lazy bugger that lives at this house!!

I'd never let my bird sh!t all over someone's car, that's just fecking rude!

id pack a bird in if she shat on my car.

i wake up daily to bird **** on the car and a sandy rainy mix. beach is 200yards from where its parked. i am positive it is not illegal to shoot pigeons

You should see the size of the poops I aquired on my car when I took it to Newquay. Flippin ninja seagulls must've been on steroids

lmao

thats the down side of the coast mate.

I have heard the shiny cars look like polorised light on a lake or pond, the birds are more eco freindly than we think cos they **** in water if they can. Well this is what I heard on a naure programme. Try living on the coast like me seagull heaven plus salt spray.
