Hello and nice to be a new member! I just bought a very nice 2013 MK2 VRS TFSI. I want to get it ready for my use and it needs a service etc. I had a click around some forums including this one (seems to be the best) and was a bit worried about the stories of damaged engines etc. I have checked my model year from the VIN and it’s “D” which translates as 2013. Reading the threads, it would seem that I should have the modified timing belt tensioner fitted already- but wanted to throw the question to the forum for any insights or feedback that would be helpful. Should I be concerned or not basically?

I would not be worried with the age and model of car you have. I previously had a 2011 Octavia VRS TSI. I had new tensioner and chains fitted on that car, as it had one of the problem tensioners on it. Preventative maintenance you could say. I got all the information about the tensioner problem from this site. You will read on here, that from 2012 onwards, they came with the most recent tensioner fitted, thank goodness. Rest easy my friend.
