Vrs 2011 high fuel consumtion

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Was wondering if anyone can help.My VRS seams to be a bit more thurst than it should be.Everything else works fine and it runs smooth.Full tank gives me a 280 miles witch works out around 24 mpg.Any sugesstions what could be wrong?

Welcome.

First thought is how is the Servicing & Maintenance, up to date?

Is the Air Filter clean, are the tyre pressues right, are the brakes free and no binding?

?

How long have you had the car, was the economy OK until recently, or when did it get poorer?

?

How far are trips from cold starts, are they far enough for the engine to reach an efficiebt running temp?

All have been serviced except fuel filter tyre pressure is ok also.Engine heats up as it should.I own this car for 3 months and its difficult to say about fuel sonumption since ive got it as i was using it moastly weekends now have changed job and can travel by car.

How many miles has it covered?

Nearly 89000

Hard to say really. How do you drive and what sort of driving?

How are you checking consumption are you filling brim to brim and working it out or just off the trip reading.

are you resetting the trip each fill up.

Doesn't sound too far off the mark.

Mine after 3.5 years ownership is average 29mpg but as low as 24 mpg on fill ups if it is mostly city driving. This is filling up and calculating MPG.

On motorway it will do nearly 40mpg but that is being very gentle and not exceeding 70mph.

I rarely drive in a spirited fashion either.

You should check air filter, maybe change spark plugs I have changed the petrol filter at 6 years. But didn't notice any change, more preventative...
