All season tyres

I have looked for all season tyres for my daughter's Fabia, but sadly Skoda decided to fit the most uncommon tyre size. Not a big choice and most tyres are expensive.

Hardly a reason not to go ahead with this idea, this sort of thing happens, annoying, costs maybe a bit more than for some other cars, but this is where you are at, that was the reason that I needed to head off to mytyres.co.uk to get a set of 17" ones for an Ibiza, just a slight inconvenience really - and again if a tyre gets trashed later on!

Sub 80 quid is not expensive for reasonable quality mid range tyres of any kind, summer, winter or all season. As @Roottootemoot posted earlier you have a few to choose from with some down around £50 a tyre.

I think as the OP, for me personally I will likely go with the Vredestein tyres, but am comparing this with previous costs of all season tyres over the years, for example I fitted 2 years ago 4 Michelin cross climates on an xtrail for £280 (fitted price) these IMO are the premium tyre to buy, yes this is subjective. I also have Pirelli All season on my wife’s octavia, again sub £300 for 4.

I was merely surprised by the very little choice in this tyre size,

As I think 26dipp pointed out.

particularly none from the usual premium brands.

So, as someone stated, this is where we are. I have no intention of changing rim size.

thanks for all the input.

Some people run winter tyres all year round...not nordic winter tyres but central European winter tyres. One tyre test rated the Continental TS860 winter tyre a better all-season tyre than Continental's dedicated all-season tyre.

camskill are listing Kleber Krisalp HP3 winter tyres in size 205/45R16 87H XL for £63.15

Kleber are a Michelin brand, and this tyre has an identical Euro label to the Michelin Alpin 6, ie. E B 69dB

In another recent all-season group tyre test, the Kleber all-season tyre came top for wear even beating the second placed Vredestein Quatrac 5...just talking about wear here. The HP3 that I mentioned above isn't Kleber's all-season tyre, but being a Michelin brand I would imagine wear life would be quite good.

I ran TIGAR Snow tyres all year on my S60 Volvo.  There was no wear in 12,000 or so miles.

TIGAR are owned by Michelin, but that really has nowt to do with me liking them, they just happened to be pretty good.

Nice and sticky in the summer for spirited driving.

TIGAR do an 'All Season' tyre.

These winters were £72 each fitted and as good as Michelin Snow tyres that would have been nearly double the price.

225/45 R 17's,

& i ran Tigar M&S marked tyres on my Fabia vRS in a 215/40 R 17.

I kept them on over the winter as they performed good in the snow.
