Boot Wheel Well Insert

Featured Replies

I collected and fitted a space saver spare wheel kit this morning and got to wondering what everyone’s doing with their old boot inserts.

It’s too big to go through my loft hatch for storage and there’s not enough room in the garage for it.

It will fit in my wheelie bin with a bit of careful modification 😉

I have the same tiny problem when I too got a space saver wheel. I will probably cut up the boot insert and dump it one day. Don't know about you, but I at times carry 4 heavy tanks in the boot and without the boot insert, there was a gap between the spare wheel and the wood/carpet cover over it. A real weakness where heavy weight could work it's way down and through the weak cover. I then cut a large piece of 5 ply to the correct shape and put it over the top, strong as hell now. The photo was taken some months ago, when the sun was shining and warm, as you can see by the bottom right corner glare.

That’s a good idea to support the floor thanks, but at the moment the greatest weight is my Labrador and it doesn’t look like the floor is sagging under his weight.
