1.0 tsi vibration at 1500 rpm

Featured Replies

Hi all, posted about a clutch vibration on my octavia before which dealer has said due to it being a 3 cylinder engine it is normal. I have also found now in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear around 1500 rpm up to 1800 rpm I have a constant buzzing vibration through the steering wheel, if I accelerate the vibration calms down to a gentle buzz. I have read elsewhere that I should down shift a gear but the gear shift indicator tells me to stay in that gear it vibrates in so am I driving the vehicle wrong for sitting at this rpm in these gears. Thanks all

The engineer responsible for the Gear Change Indicator does not know you, the car or where you are driving, and really does not care.

Best ignore that and drive as best you can to smooth out the drive.

I will try to but would 5th gear be best for like 50 plus then 6th for 60 plus, and say stay in 4th at 40mph

The "gear shift indicator" is usually just a vacuum gauge working lights rather than a gauge. Best ignored since it will tell you to change up when you're climbing hills!

The gear shift indicator on the Octavia III is purely electronic "guesswork" by the engine ECU.

so, I checked this on my 55kkm 1.0. I don't generally drive at 1500rpm, there's no point. I change at 2500-3000 and then I'm already at 2k already in teh next gear. There's no action below 2500 anyway.

1500 does vibrate mildly in my car. It's not significant, but it is there. Having said that, I'm never using that rev range.

My personal guides:

 - 6th is only really useful over 90 km/h (56mph). For give-and-take backroads limited to 80, I'll normally leave it in 5th.

 - 5th on the flat at 60km/h is fine, but I will generally not get above fourth in town.

Third will take you most of the way to 160km/h / 100mph if you so choose; it's definitely my overtaking gear of choice on A-Roads, Fourth is also pretty effective - 6-4, indicator, foot down, bye-bye :) On-ramps I tend to drop back from four to three and then plant it for a quick merge.

Well when I tried driving like that stikk no better, as I change gear in that rev range of 2500 to 3000 from I get a slight chatter in clutch and if I hold speed at 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm I get a high frequency buzzing feeling through steering wheel which I can replicate revving on idle. Told dealers and they all think is normal. When I drive a long as well I have tried coasting and theres still some vibration there only mild too but I think that's just the road feel

nothing like that on my car. Did you try a different dealer?

Yeah tried another dealer that skoda uk suggested around 20 miles away and they were no more helpful even though master tech drove it with me.and he said it felt abnormal to him but when it was investigated a normal tech checked it out and report no fault found. Skoda financial services are involved now as the vehicle is leased and they are registered keeper.

Also with other dealer I asked them would they drop me off at train station so I could get home as there were no courtesy cars available to which they said yes shouldn't be a problem to then drop the vehicle off on the day and be told oh no we csnt provide you with a lift to station as our drivers are all on sick you will have to find your own way, so I had to literally walk to the station in a place I didnt know and get train back. I find customer service at my local dealers ridiculous
