DSG holding gears in hot weather

Featured Replies

I wonder if anybody experienced this DSG behavior. Today on the way to the beach, I observed that DSG was holding gears for longer then usual (a lot longer but not as long as in S mode). The temperature was around 42 C. It was holding 2nd and 3rd up to 3000 rpm. I did not see the 5th at all where I normally see it (remained in 4th). As I was coming closer to the ocean the temperature dropped to around 35 - 36 C and the behavior stopped. This evening on the way back the same issue occurred as I was getting into the hotter parts of the city. The gear changes were smooth and I did not see or hear anything abnormal. Is it possible that DSG software goes into a "hot weather mode"  when applicable? I wish S mode would shift gears like this. The car is not due for DSG service yet (under 40,000 km) but I wonder if I should do it. These forums imply that the behavior is normal but I could not find anything to confirm on Briskoda.

Yes this is normal and used to do it in my last rs octavia which was the 6 speed dsg. In my new rs which is the 7 speed, it doesn’t do it.

Great to hear that manamp27 .  You know what it was like in Sydney today. Perhaps in your case the behavior no longer being evident, it has to do with wet vs dry clutch technology differences.

@CajoLajo  @manamp27 has a Wet Clutch DSG, just 7 speed.  It is not a Twin Dry Clutch.
