Auto light error

Featured Replies

I have two error messages;

PLease check right dipped beam headlight

Error: headlight range control

These messages only appear when the Auto option is selected, when starting off the lights rise, lower and resume the correct position and appear to be working and correctly aligned, the left and right fog lights work fine when cornering. My dealer has investigated and could fine nothing obviously wrong and will now book the car in for an extensive investigation, they cleared the roor code but it reappeared the same day - anyone had a similar problem?

Sounds like a sensor or module issue. The days of self-diagnosis are all but gone. It needs a computer to tell a human what needs replacing.

That headlamp range control error is resolvable by doing a basic setting on the high/low levels, i had the same error when i enabled traffic sign assist and auto high beam using VCDS, took me a while to figure out why, they went up/down absolutely fine, but the error remained on the dashboard.

The right dipped beam might be a lack of comms to the Right side LED module, i saw that too and it logs an error in the 4b controller on the car (replacement for BCM in older cars).

If you weren't in cornwall i would offer to assist.

Many thanks, the dealer cleared the error code but it just keeps coming back, it doesn't seem to have any adverse effect and if I revert to my younger days and turn the lights on and off manually no error appears - not a bad idea I need the exercise!

The first service is due in about six week time so I'll leave it for them to sort.

Did the dealer not offer an explanation?

Yeah the fault code will not go away until they set basic settings levels for the top and bottom alignment in module 4b, then the error will go away and the fault code will be clearable.

Hi JeremyGi, did this get resolved by the dealer during the service? I’ve just had both these errors pop up recently.

Sorry to resurrect an old post - but this is exactly my problem.

Fault started last autumn but I just went "old school" and switched the sidelights/headlights on manually. The fault warning comes on when using the Auto light setting.

Last week I mentioned it at the dealers when it was in for the annual Service and MOT. They said it was just a dirty sensor. Errr nope. Still the same. I was doubtful when I was told that, but as Im trading my Karoq in for a new one in a few months Im just going to leave it.

I thought I would post, as this seems to be a fault, albeit quite rare - and not to be fobbed off with a "we cleaned the sensor..." remedy.
