New mot rules

Hi all, sorry if there are any posts about this already but I couldn't find them. Regarding the new mot rules, the egr has been blanked off in my car (before I got it, I probably would have done it anyway) and it has an eml on, I know this is the only fault causing it as I have had a scan done. I've read lots of conflicting info saying that the new rules about this don't apply to pre 2008 diesels. Is there anyone who can clarify or point me in the right direction for info? I have looked on the gov website, does it mean diesel where it says gas or bi-fuel? Forgive my ignorance! Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would prefer not to spend any money getting it mapped out if possible!

Gas would be LPG I think. That section you've screenshotted is for spark ignition engines, it's the next section for compression ignition you need.

Engine malfunction indicator lamp (engine management light or ‘EML’)

Turn on the ignition and check that the engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminates and then goes off. On some vehicles it will be necessary to start the engine before the MIL goes off.

You need to inspect MIL fitted to diesel vehicles with 4 or more wheels and first used on or after 1 July 2008.

So I should have kept reading! So with my car being a 2006 I should be OK with it on?

alternatively reset it before the mot? it won't come on for approx 100 miles so should be ok.

Even if the light isn't a problem, the EGR removal might still cause you issues...

 

The first section from Wino's link states:
