Is it me or the car

My thoughts exactly, I passed on my mk2 to my dad but sadly its dropped a rod as previous owner to me must not have had car services properly as it was the 1.9 pd engine and they are known for going 100s of thousands of miles but that was much more a refined ride and to even say it was a diesel as well compared to my petrol.

Which model of Octavia have you got ?   Is that 2,500 since brand new ?   Energy Saver tyres ain't supposed to be soft n supple hence, they'll have quite hard sidewalls hence, lowe

Yeah, shocks & springs are gonna be a bit stiff at that age, these cars are built to a budget, that's a part of why them cost less than VW or Audi.   You could try working the front susp

On mine (when it doesn't self reset randomly) for example said 49mpg since refill when I last filled up, but using the exact figures (brim to brim) the car did 309 miles and took exactly 31 litres so actually only did 45.3mpg

As I posted elsewhere, I felt the ride in a 07 plate Octavia taxi with over 200,000 miles was better than mine.  Granted I'd had a few beers (hence reason for taxi), but it shows at minimum a difference in priorities as I can't comment on the handling.

my 1.0 just clicked over 1000 miles today.

It's firmer than the old one. It doesn't transmit much of the road surfaces at all, but then again I'm running Nokian Hakka 9s. They're awesome, an awful lot of grip, but these are winter tyres and made for the temperatures. They get an interesting resonance at certain speeds, but no vibration.

There *is* a lot more vibration through the wheel in this car than there was in the old one. This also hums up to 2000rpm when started cold; the old one didn't. Then again, I rarely start them cold - that's what the Webasto is for...

Your energy savers really will be stiff below about 7C. They're summer tyres with a focus on economy. My Blu Reponses on the old car were measured at one point at around 45000kms and I still had 7.x mm left. Yes, about half the mileage on winters, but still, 15000 miles and still over 7mm tread? That's not too bad at all. But it did mean they were stiff in colder weather.

Thanks for getting back to me pal with this post. Well i do get resonating noises as well and also on cold start mine vibrates little when revs go up to around 1500 rpm, something to do with the GPF on these as far as I know and 3 cylinder character. Yeah I do find these Michelins transmit more when they are cold when I go to work on a morning but on way home if temperature outside has picked up they are smoother.

I still have issue with clutch pedal vibrating at moment which has been there since new but Skoda financial services should be getting back to me next week with sorting it, been 5 weeks of waiting for them to get back to me. Once I get this sorted I will be happier with the car.
