hi all

wondering if anyone can help my wife went to use her fabia after about 8 days of no use and it won't fire up it will turn over but that's it all the lights on the dash are normal and I used a obd2 reader and it did not show any codes I can hear the fuel pump when I first turn on the ignition I've also tried to jump start it from my car but no luck.here is a video of what it dose. also its exactly the same with or without the jump leads so I think the battery sounds ok

I forgot to mention the car has just under 80k miles and had a full service including cam-belt & water pump in November 2019 and small service in november 2020 and has only covered about 7k since then

 

Can't say but it certainly spinning over fast!

I am sure you will have checked, but your petrol has not been pinched has it?

to be fair i did think that but its showing 1 bar and the dash is saying 50 miles also im right at the bottom of a cul-de-sac so i dont think  anyone would have the front to sit on my drive and drain it.

 its the wifes car so I dont no its limits as to how low you can take it

 ill chuck a jerry can full in it tomorrow and see if its that

 

When it got its cambelt replaced, the small cam<>cam belt was also replaced and any tensioner and roller that were "aged"?

I couldn't tell you to be honest i just know  it was the cambelt and water pump

Did you get some petrol into it and it started okay yet?

I was just a bit concerned about the speed at which it is being turned over by the starter, I can see that you were using jump leads/pack, but even so - I hope that I'm wrong.

hi i put about 3lts in it that i had in a can in the garage but still no joy. it seems to be the same speed with or without the jump leads on i checked the battery and its showing 12.2 but it must be down a it due to me trying to get it started 

i took the top cover of the the cam belt and it all looks good from what i can see there

A quick compression check would clear your mind of any dark thoughts.

yer ill have to get it to a garage once we are allowed out again lol

 

how can i tell if the fuel is getting to the engine without having to dismantle much

so i just went out and disconnected the fuel lines and turned the ignition on and the fuel flowed fine 

so i thought i would check the coils  i took the airbox off noticed a wire that runs across the coils had been rubbing on the airbox and was partly bare so i taped it up and tryed to start it and it started so i put the air box back on and just had a quick drive around the block and seems fine and started fine when i got back so not sure if that was the problem as i cant see it shorting as the air box is plastic  

ill see how it gos in the future but i cant see it getting used much for a good few weeks with all that is going on and my wife is working from home maybe ill use it for work instead of mine sometimes
