Skoda Fabia is pulling Left, shoulder pain started

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda fabia mk2, the car is pulling left. When I am driving if I remove my hand from steering it's started pulling left. I changed 4 tyre to continental, changed suspension, lower arm, tie road, shock absorbers but the issue isn't resolved. Waste my money by visiting different alignment workshop but no luck. Today they alter my tyre by fixing rear one to front and front to rear but still issue doesn't resolved.

Alignment guy said my camber is out but there is no adjustment for camber. Attaching wheel alignment picture for better reference. Any one can give me any solution. Do I need to replace knuckle or steering rack?

No idea on your car sorry.  Hopefully someone can help.

This section has so many threads from about 2010 on about UK cars / Face Lift ones.  search Briskoda Fabia Mk2 Pulling left.

(Never seen any Pulling Right threads.)

In the UK when the cars were almost new and fitted with 205/40 R17 it was common that the Right Hand Drive cars pulled left.

Dealerships messed around often many times and Skoda / VW's answer under warranty was to replace the Continentals & Dunlops with Pirelli Zero Neros which disguised the issue.

People had the front realigned and messed about with but as it was the issue was how the had been built at the factory.

Run out stripes were sometimes the issue, as in the tyres were fitted wrong as a pair.

Mine pulls to the left, still does even after I've freshened up most of the suspension. Just a thing they do for some reason. Doesn't bother me once I got used to it. Had someone tell me it was because if someone fell asleep at the wheel it would put them into the ditch rather than into oncoming traffic. I'd take that with a grain of salt because if that was the case every car would do it.

OP has a wrong hand drive car, so it would pull right in this case.

I appreciate your feedback. But why it's pulling left.. If it will put left then left tyre will be worn out very soon and will create a big mess. Isn't it?

No, both of my tyres wear evenly. Might wear down quickly but atleast its even. Had to have it aligned quite a few times because I was replacing worn out bits as I went. Few different places too. Just seems its how it is with this car.

There possibly is, what year is the car?

On early mk2s as well as mk1s, the subframe is held to the chassis via the 'consoles'. item 23 here: wishbone; wheel bearing housing; anti-roll bar; F ... - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2008 year] (7zap.com)

These have holes with big clearances (+/-2.5mm in all directions from perfect centre) for the bolts that hold them to the chassis, so fine adjustments can be made.

You need to be careful not to make things worse though.

Are you sure there are no bushes that may be worn out though?

My car is manufactured in 2008, Skoda fabia 1.4TDI. I'm pretty much sure that all bushes are perfect and replaced

If your car has the consoles as shown in the parts diagram I linked to in an edit to my previous post then you will have this small amount of adjustability.  There's probably an equivalent somewhere on the later mk2 arrangement, but I don't know that one.

When bushes were replaced, it's possible that the consoles were loosened and not put back in their original positions, leading to the inequalities in camber and caster.

I think one way that this may happen is if people jack up only one side of the car,  remove these bolts between console and chassis with the car 'twisted' and then refit them with the new bushes (or whole new consoles). I suspect the slight twisting of the car if jacked up unevenly may be enough for the consoles to naturally sit in a different, wrong position.

What do you mean by consoles?

My 2008 Fabia mk2 used to slightly pull to the left when  we purchased it new so kept taking it back to dealers we had suspension changed under warranty and new tyres but still it pulled to the left, was told that there was nothing wrong with the car it was just like that it was normal,  at the first MOT the bottom wishbone bush had broken and the alloy housing had a crack in it, tried to get dealers to replace under warranty but they said normal wear and tear and not covered and was looking at a bill of around £559 to replace alloy casting and bushes

Here's the amusing bit had a new casting nearside and had SEAT Cupra solid rubber bushes fitted to both sides

, Skoda bush around £15 Seat bush around £50, straight away after £250 paid at a friendly garage car handled much better and No Pulling To The Left,  also those bushes lasted until the car was written off in 2019 money well spent i think

Dont think theres any adjustment on later mk2s, aside from bushes with offset holes for the bolts.

The lighter coloured part is alloy and that's the part that was cracked where the bush was located, the other part iss pressed steel as i said the original bush is not solid and moves and splits after a few years (3 in my case) these were replaced along with the whole alloy mount and sorted the pulling left issue out, a garage friend has also mentioned that they have had issues with Lucas fitted calipers on the left side with sticky pistons that are effecting the car pulling it to the left, he told me that if you look at the left wheel does it look like more brake dust on the left wheel  than the right side, if so the caliper could be the issue and might need replacing or or servicing--new piston and seal kit, worth a look at it

I have a 2011 vrs. It pulls left.. I thought the car needed alignment. Took it to 2 places and they could not get it to run straight. The right side had good camber but the left side could not reach the rec measurements. When you look at the car from the front the left wheel looks Like it stands up dead straight whilst the other has slight camber. Upon further examination of the left wheel the gap between the hub carrier and nearest part of suspension is very small whereas on the other side you can fit 2 fingers through. The mechanic thinks the hub is bent. (I did not notice as I have not had the car long and have not been driving it as I have been ripping it apart for an audio install)

This may make sense as the previous owner may have had an accident. Left alloys badly scuffed and left front suspension is new. I have it booked in next Thursday for the hub to be changed. I'll get him to check and see if it's a case of (as mentioned above in the thread) that there are some adjustment bolts and somebody changed the suspension on the left and not tightened correctly or if it just the hub is bent.

I will also say the pulling left improved when the tyre was pumped up to correct pressure but it still does drift abnormally.

I have had my nearside hub changed today. It was confirmed as being bent. No more pulling to the left. Steering is a lot lighter, responsive and no drifting.

Hub means the bearing or knuckle as well?

Not the bearing the actual hub housing the big metal bracket that the bearing sits in. Mine was second hand so I had the whole unit including bearing and ABS sensor already on it and we used them as the bearing seemed fine and it was one less job to take them out and swap over

I changed the hub with bearing but still pulling left.. Frustrated.....😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤

Did you do it or a garage?

Did you have both wheels off the floor whilst it was being done or was 1 side jacked up?

Is it still just as bad or a little bit better?

Did you get it realigned after?

Are the spaces between the hub and the suspension strut the same distance apart on the left hand side of the car and the right hand side?

Yes... All gaps is correct but still pulling left

What about the other questions???

@Saptarshi  Just checking,

can you confirm that your car is a left hand drive one so pulling left so to the other side of the road.  Towards on coming traffic?

If you take it to a flat car park and drive straight does it still pull left?

  • 3 weeks later...

what if you loosen the left tierod-end one winding and tighten the right tierod-end with one winding?

Also some camber should be possible if you loosen the 3 bolts that hold the top of the strut, there should be a degree of movement in and out.
