Btw I’ve had the tools before just not now felt the oil filter socket to be the best song with the strap and last the chain

Genuine and good copy parts should have a 30mm hex on the end of the oil filter, so a 30mm socket or spanner should be the tool of choice.

It sounds like some of your plugs have been in for a very long time if the coil/coils started to come apart due to seizing down the counter bores in the cylinder head - I was "helping" a guy in Japan trying to get his coils out, he ended up making a steel puller with forcing bolts as it seemed that at maybe 10 years it was the first time the coils in his Polo 1.4 had been removed - and that is asking for trouble.

I can't comment on the current NGK plug version for that engine though as I no longer service/support one with that engine.

Standard.

I wouldn't say you've been lucky with those coils and plugs either, horrible job.

You guys are just big gurls really, every toolbox should have a rough screwdriver in it for hitting stuff with, I wouldn't recommend it every time but if you're in a pinch it works, OP doesn't have a suitable tool so I suggested a field fix which I have used successfully in the past.

Strap wrenches are rubbish unless they have the teeth that bite into the can like a chain wrench and the windlass technique will just slip or crush the can.

Sep ,all my ex GPO screwdrivers are hard enough to use as chisels.   But I hail back to my old friendly GPO garage manager who showed me the easy way. Get blade of screwdriver against the can and it seldom fails. A mechanic would not use his torque wrench as a hammer. Likewise I don't use a screwdriver as a chisel. 😉
