Bonnet vents

Featured Replies

The covers as fugly as they may be are an improvement :D

Not for me but good on you; nicely done!

I'd imagine it'll make a big dent in the part-ex value when you want to change it, which is fair enough if you don't mind the loss in value, but I wouldn't want to do it and I wouldn't want to buy it if it was up for sale.

Is it a modification you have to notify your insurers of?  If so, do they increase the premium?

Looks far better than I thought it woukd, and makes me smile like a 70's viva with a cherry bomb would. ( thats a good thing)    Cant remember if you said the engine but assume it wont drip anto anything 'sensitive" when it rains?,

Talking of '70's Viva's, here's my old 2.litre 1968 Monaco Blue GT with Black bonnet  & vents. From memory the vents were dummy so they just added extra drag!

These were the days when you modded your car to the hilt or to what your wallet would allow. My 2 litre had a stage 3 head & hot cam, tubular exhaust headers, twin Webbers, neg camber front wishbones & Wolfrace wheels. When I got it in '73 it had 4 tail pipes which were stock! I changed them for 2 x Thrush side pipes with no silencers. God it was loud & attracted a lot of attention from Plod. I really miss that old car. Rare as rocking horse poo now as well.

Now I'm older & wiser & my boy racer days are long gone. I now prefer to fly under the radar with a Q car.

I had a blue MK2 Tincorner with the same Thrush sidepipes.

The jacked up stance of those days did nothing for handling

Mine was the same :blush

I've not suffered overheating. I just like my cars to be loud. Plus, I like the look of louvres/vents.

Then just buy some woofers and a base bin like the other chavs.

I actually think those louvres look OK and suit the lines of the bonnet...

Nice job.

Not of anyone taste but way less ugly than fitting 24" wheels

Thinking of doing the same on m'y Octavia.

Did you do it yourself?

If yes  care to tell me more on how you did  it? (Glued? )

I am personnaly looking to a single vent style like on the toyota Celica .

That would need  way more work but those one could  do the trick

Still no rain issues?

If you’re into mods, get a a kit car!

The functional bonnet vent on my JZR was made from the nose cone of a Nov 5th rocket that had landed in my garden several years ago...

They actually look quite nice, water ingress while parked would be my biggest concern.

They were fitted by Nick Wiley at Vented on facebook. They are glued on and are firmly in place.

The car has had many a good soaking since these were installed and there's been no issues.

I have made better rain guards for when the car is parked up and colour coded them, so they dont stand out as much as my first attempt.

Pics? : -)

Still weird to see that few octavia owners going for this kind of mod.

Personnaly i will do something more akin to that

Yeah, it’s a mystery why we’re not all queuing up for that…
