Morning people, my 2016 Octy vRS TSi has developed a turbo issue. It is putting up code P00AF. I haven't actually looked at it yet but I am assuming it is the variable vanes sticking due to carbon build up. The issue only presents itself when cold, as soon as it starts to warm up it is fine. 

However I recall seeing somewhere there is an issue with these turbos. Anyone have any info?

 

Don't think tsi has variable vanes? Sounds like a wastegate problem, could be carbon buildup as you say or a faulty actuator, but I'd get it checked out asap because the turbo could potentially fail if it gets worse.

I believe from what I’ve seen on previous related threads that P00AF relates to the turbo wastegate actuator sticking or failed.

 Remedies seem to go from cycling the actuator through its full range of movement using vcds to free it off, replacing the actuator or replacing the whole turbo depending how lucky you are.
