Central locking problem

Featured Replies

Advice please . I have a 2016 octavia  1.4 petrol , 40,000 miles , very pleased with it BUT  I have encountered first problem . Doors used to auto-lock at approx 10 mph but is now failing to do it . There is now a double click from door locks as opposed to previous single click and this happens every time i pull away from below 10 mph .

The car is still locking properly when parked .  Potentially how expensive ?

Have you checked to make sure it's not just switched off?

Worth a watch:

As above check it is activated?

Are you using the second key? I seem to recall the cars stores separate options for each key.

Thankyou both of you who replied .

I am using the same key . I have now turned off the automatic central locking function  ( thanks for video ) but  would like it to work properly ie lock on passing approx 10 mph . The original fault again, it was NOT auto locking ( altho selected ) and trying to relock every time i slowed below 10 mph and then accelerated .

Have you got an option in your infotainment that says anti-hijack or similar?

This is from my Wife's late 2015 VW Polo manual, which would suggest what you're doing in turning auto-lock off (and on) should be doing what you're trying to achieve.  So unless there are any other bright ideas, you may need to have it scanned for faults:

Thanks Lamgaz for your research . There is no anti hijack setting .

In fact the fault has worsened . I locked the car and then tried to open drivers door and it opened !

The alarm went off . I will have to take it to dealer . Slightly disappointed to have a fault .

May be an open circuit on the door motor. That's what I have and it's always doing a double clunk.

Lock it, clunk, walk past it double clunk and sometimes it unlocks altogether, more often than not, it doesn't. Its also locked me out, whilst unlocking the passenger door only. (Usually when it's raining) Oh FFS.🙄

You do know that internal code at Skoda for FFS is actually Faulty Friday Special. Glad I didn't get one of those.🤨

Just out of interest, was the part the Door Lock Control Module? (if they even have them these days).

You're lucky. All the doors on my 2015 Fabia locked and wouldn't reopen. Fortunately the hatchback door still opened and I was able to climb in and drive it to a  EuroSkoda dealer.

They said they had to remove the inner door to access the lock which needed replacing which also sorted the rear near side door. To do the same on the offside the front passenger door lock also needed replacing.

At the same time my wipers would not turn off but remained on intermittent. They said the stalk needed replacing. Total cost £700 and they still can't explain why all the doors locked, I suspect this could occur again as the cause was not identified. get rid of it I say to myself which I will. Skoda have major electrical problems.

There's not a lot in common between a 2015 Fabia and an Octavia III - wrong forum!

I know you feel the need for a rant, but it would be better having a rant in the forum where fellow Fabia owners will see it and possibly help you?|

Sorry to revive this post but anyone know what part to order?

I'm also having locking issues as per the OP.

Auto door locks aren't working - can hear the doors trying to lock every time I stop and start again. The car is also randomly locking itself which could have been a disaster if it happened somewhere other than my driveway.

Had it scanned and got 2 possible leads:

Rear Driver Side Door Module - Switch for Central Locking - Signal Implausible

Motor for Central Locking of Rear Trunk / Hatch - Short to ground

Anyone else ever come across this and any recommendations on what to try first?

The boot and rear door seem ok and are locking and unlocking with the fob?

Cheers!

Alan
