Viewing my first Mk2 Fabia VRS tomorrow

Featured Replies

Actually it does make a possible difference which is making it filter less efficiently.

& as you might see if you put in the filter and listen, then remove and remove the cover and put back in it sounds slightly different.

So there you go, just much the same as what some want with a Washable / cleanable 'Performance' filter.

Less efficient filtering and a change in noise.

Like i keep saying,

10 years of these cars and everything was tried, and in the past few years people are doing new stuff and others keep asking about all the old stuff that a search on here or a memory can find.

@VRS-Powered Had a CAVE engine car that did good 1/4 mile times with a TMC Tuning box and exhaust mods.

Good little car until eventually being an oil user.

His 'Project Build thread' has some nice hints and helps on mods.

EDIT.  Seems to have been deleted.

Santa Pods runs maybe still on Youtube.

Much cheapness for much fun.

Oil is still above the hatched area, is still a golden colour, albeit, not as clean as it was obviously.   I filled the coolant at the same time too, that is also still at the max level.

That is a great post, thanks bud.   So, I have been told there is a lot of paperwork with the car, what that consists of, I'm not sure till i get there in the morning. How will i be able to

  • In the spare tyre well there should be a sticker beside the build sticker with '34F7' on it, a dealer stamp and date.   The Water pump is also the magnetic supercharger clutch and will be 9

Each to their own mate! I'm sure I mentioned before that you would get the modifying bug 😀

Now for some black badges perhaps lol?

It does make a really nice induction noise.

BUT

The filter is warm after a quick blast up the road... that can't be good, so I'm going to take it off hahahaa

Maybe try pointing it towards the front of the car?

It should still be getting the cooler air from the standard pipe in but obviously with no lid on the box its not using it

Does the air get sucked in with a motor or just when you go forward

I thought the lid was going back on.

You will get cold air arriving at the box, but just to warn you that the filter where you have it is a liability on a hot day travelling and even going at 70 mph.

The temp behind the battery can be at 40*oC.   I know that when stopped the standard airbox is like a 'box oven' as well in those temps when parked.

A bigger cool air feed is needed.

The sensors on the car can give up the data on intake temps etc.

Sometimes i just use a 99 pence digital fridge thermometer.

Just going to swap for a new standard air filter mate. Not worth upsetting the engine.

It worked on the 1.2 TSI because it doesnt get anywhere near as hot as this does

Does anyone know of a catback (or axle back) exhaust that swaps to a single pipe? I really don't like dual exhausts, they're tacky

It’s just dual tips on a single pipe,You can unbolt the tips and add what you want.

Oh they unbolt? Wasn't sure if they'd just be welded?

🤔 2 pipes always looks better then one "imo"

it says "I got to rear guns coz me is quick!!"  😁

100% they come off mate, If they’re like other Vag cars I’ve owned they’ll be effectively clamped on and twist off with a lot of WD40 or need prized off.

They are welded.

I really like a fat single pipe. About 85mm diameter would do haha

says PECO big bore to me!!!

My mate had one on a Nova 1.2 back in the day 😂

The Exhaust clamp under the passengers seat can be a pretty easy one to remove.

It just corrodes away.

We got pulled(or should I say dragged)out my mates Nova GSi years go by armed police in Glasgow City Centre as he had a cherry bomb exhaust and the ability to back fire every 10 seconds. Someone reported gun shots to the police, before we knew it we were cuffed against a wall.

He also had roof gutters for side skirts🤣 the days.

So guys, my VRS is just approaching the 1000miles since its service mark. I drive mostly stop start with the occasional long trip thrown in. I don't drive really hard, but I do tend to accelerate hard from the lights (once the engine is at 90°C of course)

Going to check the oil this morning and hopefully if the weather sticks, the spark plugs will be changed tomorrow.

Would be fair to assume that its not an oil burner if the oil levels look good yes?

Sounds good and hopefully all is well.

All good?

Didn't get around to the spark plugs today, by the time the engine was cool enough to work on this evening I realised I was running out of light and there were various tubes in the way of plug #1.

On that though, any tips for getting access to plug #1? Do I need to remove all of those hoses?
