Induction/Air Filter kits

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to this page so apologies if this has been asked before!

I currently drive a 2018 Octavia VRS 2.0 petrol and i'm hoping someone could point out some induction kits for my model? Or do they even produce full kits for this model?

If so, does anyone have any pics of what they have? :)

Cheers!

If you go to the 245 owners club section under Mk3 Octavia my car had an Airtec induction kit with a cone air filter which sounded great and pictures around October 2018 on my August 2017 car. Cost about £300 fitted by AmD in Grays, Essex.

I'll have a browse, cheers pal!

My car is the 230hp model, not the 245.. would it make any difference? :)

No difference at all

My 245 has the complete R600 ait intake system which is expensive unless like me you find a 2nd hand 1.  Whichever you go for get the elbow & turbo muffler delete as the OEM setup is quite restrictive

Would you say thats about right for a 2018 2.0 230hp model? :D

(im completely new to skoda's so i do apologise!)

Yeah that's the one I had with a red inlet pipe (various colours are available).:thumbup:Comes with a metal heatshield to get the air cool going into the turbo.

Nice one, Cheers buddy!

So would you say i should think about getting a turbo muffler delete as well?

What was it like fitting it? Anything to watch out for?

Can't really help on the DIY questions as AmD fitted it as well as the Airtec Intercooler and Milltek full exhaust including sport cat downpipe. Didn't have the muffler delete so not sure of the benefits.

R600 from racingline or fit a bmc or racingline panel filter, fit the blanking plate in the air duct. Drill the passenger side and that’ll be Just about as good for less the 100 quid

Yep to that and the blanking panel for the section on the driver's side going into the engine bay. That's only £20 ish posted.

Or be a tight a*** and use duct tape.......it works......honestly 🙄

I have an MST (version 1) intake on my VRs 230. The turbo elbow and hose seem to make a slight difference in performance, the filter is just for sound though (and looks). Coupled with the pikey modded OEM airscoop and retaining the OEM bottom half of the box it should still do well. If I want it quiet I can close the box, if I want it louder I can remove 2 more parts of the box depending on how loud.

Personally I'd avoid anything with a foam filter and stick with cotton.

For a really stupidly expensive choice, you could go with APR's / Carbonio's carbon fibre intake, which is disgustingly expensive and sounds as-good (if not quieter) than either the Airtec cone or Racingline R600 kits. My excuse is that I was much younger 3 years ago, and did a 'silly' - whereas I'd probably go for the Racingline kits now.

a turbo muffler delete

From all chats with the garage I use (QS Tuning - Kim Collins' place), as well as checking on here / VW forums, the muffler delete does sweet bggr all. It's a costly mod for minimal sound or performance gains (the latter, if any!) - same as any blow-off valves, which basically are a right pain to configure properly. Didn't know you had one @themanwithnoaim Tony, but for the cars I've seen & heard, I couldn't notice a major difference.

IMHO your money for a decent induction kit, 100% get the elbow (and make sure it's fitted correctly to the turbo pipe), then spend the rest on other mods.

Only fitted as it came as a part of the system from the previous owner, love the raspy wabble in the lower mid range it creates, kinda prelude to whats coming. Elbow is a must with its large/smoother airflow.

I found this website last night where lots of induction kits are tested on this platform, and some of the mods mentioned above, could be worth a look:

Call me a heathen, but unless you’re remapping then a clean paper oem or aftermarket panel filter is going to be just as good.

Yep, paper filter is perfectly fine unless you are well north of 300bhp

Or, you're like me and

Quite agree with the OEM paper / panel science school though.

And "well north of 300bhp" in a FWD car is a bit pointless.
