New cambelt snapped, will skoda fix my engine?

Featured Replies

I've been reading through this thread, looking for the updates etc.

Just for my own sanity, this isn't a Skoda Dealership is it? The company that have done the work are an independent?

Or an Authorised Skoda repair centre?

It's just obviously from the thread title it's reading as "Skoda UK main dealership have completed some work, part has failed, potentially due to it not being fitted correctly - engine now damaged and they are refusing to pay out".

Couldn't quite be sure if that was misleading or not :)

  • If the dealer that did the work was an authorised Skoda dealer and not a franchise then you should have a good chance of getting it sorted. If franchise then Skoda UK should help but more paperwork ma

  • I remain unconvinced by the supposed fairy tale ending to that one.   Interesting thats its nowhere to be found, you always seem to be able to dig up anything.

Hi everyone, just a quick update on the situation. The vehicle has been inspected today by a separate Skoda dealership / repair centre to the one that originally did the work. The mechanic has emailed saying the cambelt was fitted incorrectly with a bolt not being torqued or tightened properly causing it to come off. I will keep you all updated on what happens.

Oh dear..

without details, that sounds like the way people used to mess up the tensioner...

Hopefully the dealer you are talking to will get somewhere with Skoda U.K.

If not CAB or the motoring press might be a good idea.
