I use castrol edge 5w 30 fst i have been experiencing high oil consumption low oil light every 1000-1200miles.

I have been told it is oil brand was wondering what everyone else is using out there and any issues.

You most probably have an issue with the engine itself that you're not going to fix by switching oil brand from something that was officially used by Škoda (at least in some countries). Officially stated maximum "normal" (actually in extreme driving conditions) consumption is 0.5 l / 1000 km and you're already exceeding it. I had half of my engine taken apart and rebuilt (although it was a different engine) under warranty when I had similar consumption (fixed after changing to updated piston rings and pistons).
