Problem with DSG 6 in Octavia II

Featured Replies

Greeting,

My car is 2006 Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI

The DSG box works ok cold, but after a few miles of driving it throws into safe mode, the PRNDS flashes and the only gear that works is number one. When the car/box cools down, it works again.

I scanned the DTCs for the transmission:

18154 Transmission solenoid power relay: Electrical malfunction: P1746

19164 Pressure control solenoid 6: open or short to ground: P2732

Are there experiences from these, is the failure of the solenoid due to the breakdown of that relay or are there separate faults?

Is there an estimate of how to replace those components, is it a big job? That solenoid does not seem to be a very expensive component, but is it interchangeable?

The car is old and the monetary value is not very much, is just otherwise in good condition, an probably many potential miles left in it.

Grateful for all the tips and help.

BR

Robert

Well you are " lucky" in one sense that you have some error codes. That will make it easier for a dsg rebuilder to advise you pre strip down.

My guess would be the mechatronics unit but give one or two dsg tranmission rebuilders a call for views and opinions if nothing forthcoming here.

It can't hurt to check electrical connections for the transmission but if it's virtually anything else the transmission will need to be removed.

Thanks for the reply. Seems like there are not many (in Finland) who have the ability to go into the mechatronics, or the will to do so. I think that the exchange of the solenoid is something I can do myself. I have the time, patience and youtube, so I should be fine :) Also not so much to loose with this old Octavia, what i don't want to do is spend 1500 EUR on a rebuild, as the value of the car not much more than that. I have not yet checked the connection point to the mechatronics, will first give that a check and treatment with contact cleaner.

Any other advice is welcome!

Robert

Did you fix the problem "18154 Transmission Solenoid Power Relay: Electrical Malfunction: P1746" of your octavia?
