Keyfob not working to lock/unlock fabia mk2 VRS

Featured Replies

I just bought a 2012 skoda mkII Vrs, unbeknown when buying the car, the key fobs don't work to lock/unlock the car (previous owner failed to mention it which was nice of them). Read up on here that broken wires are an issue with the car and tried some of the pointers but still no luck so now looking to see if there's anywhere else to look or any tips/tricks to try before throwing money away on a trip to Skoda 💸💸💸

So far we have:

•Change the batteries in both fobs and the red light works when pressing the buttons

•Tried reprogramming by turning key in the ignition to on and pressing the lock button x3 trick, nothing happens

•taking the rubber off from between the door and the A-pillar, found a broken wire and repaired the wire.

How likely is there to be more broken wires behind the door cards and does it sound like its a trip to Skoda to get the keys programmed? Any help for a newbie would be much appreciated 😊

try this,

stand by the car, push ANY of the buttons on the remote control

then "within" 60 secs unlock the car with the key and see if that works.

Thank you, unfortunately still nothing

Ok, that was the "official" procedure.

If you have 2 keys.....try this..........

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.
2. Mechanically lock the vehicle from the Drivers door using the other key to be coded.
3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn
will sound once.
4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding
procedure.

If the above does not work..........

then final try of this........

1. stand by the car, push the UNLOCK button on the remote control

2. then immediaetley unlock the car with the key

3. put key in ignition and switch on (not start)

That "hopefully" will do it.

Again if you have 2 keys, try this with BOTH.

Will give both of these a go tomorrow, car alarm has a habit of going off so don't want to upset the neighbours too much!

the alarm "should" stop if the ignition is switched on....its not that late yet :giggle:

Anyway, I would try my "last" post first

Yeah it does but its ridiculously sensitive, which is always good fun 😂

When I bought my 11 plate fabia vrs it only came with one key . Recently just ordered one from timpson ( the one with the fob ) £220  ouch 😠

How much!!! Gawd blimey! Didn't think they cost that much from the dealership!

Hopefully it won't come to that, my fabia has 3 keys but one of them does not open the door nor start the car 🤨 but that's what the previous owner had! Maybe I've got your missing key 😂😂

Any luck yet ??

You got me thinking now.i dismissed the main dealer from the start thinking about the price should have gotten a quote at least.would imagine the high price is due to coding to the car.have been lucky with only one key for over a year now.a loyalty bonus from work covered some of the price 😀

If you stay anywhere near East Lothian you are welcome to try the key 😂😄

Watched both and tried it a few times and still no luck 😭

Many years ago when i got my Fabia, it came 2 FOBs but only 1 worked. Tried to sync it trough VCDS but could not do it.

If i recall correctly the car did see the not working FOB but it would not memorise it.

Probably malfunctioning FOB.

Did you get this fixed or just continued to use the one working fob? Got 3 keys with the car, none of the fobs work and one of the keys I dont think is for my car as it doesn't open the door or turn the ignition

In scotland but much further north 😂😂

Never sorted it out. Just wanted to point out that you could try with VCDS and hoped someone might show how to do it correctly.

Hi there,

I have replaced battery in my key fob for skoda fabia 2009. It doesn't work to open the door remotely and the little red light on the fob doesn't flash but instead shines all the time.

Would anyone know what does that mean?

Thank you in advance.
