Ideas what to do, stick or switch

I didn't buy a RR George so I don't have the lofty entitlement to push lessor folk out of my way.

It's just a Toyota so I shall park at the far end of the car park with the other terrorists.

I've  few pics on my phone but not time to move them somewhere they can be uploaded from for now.

You get to travel about helping others out in adverse weather like tomorrow maybe, and park at the hospital A&E or Maternity if getting pregnant ladies etc there.

Remember and carry a flask of boiling water just incase.   You can have a nice cuppa while someone delivers the baby if you can not get there in time.

Now that you have spent all the money on the car have you actually tried out these field sports that you have been invited to to see if its a hobby that you enjoy & will continue with?

I have a friend who over the years has bought so many new vehicles, 4x4's, crew cab pick ups, Range Rovers, Motor Caravans etc for his latest new sport or activity that by now we all know that the sports are just an excuse to buy yet another new vehicle.

I have even seen him push his teenage children into things against their will all of which involved him buying yet another vehicle, in fact it started when they were very young with karting etc.

I have known him since my late teens & even back then we would create a story about a rare or out of the ordinary vehicle that we claimed to know was available just to hear the predictable reaction "I have always wanted one of them!"

I will leave you to guess what branch of sales he ended up excelling at, he runs a company where there is a constant turnover of "consultants" all of which get a company car if they manage to keep up the b******t for more than a month, he chooses the vehicles and its never anything appropriate but whatever takes his fancy that week, he always ends up driving them a couple of months later when they have been fired, the excuse being that he sells whatever his current steed is & gets to drive what took his fancy while searching for a new vehicle and usually another sport/activity at the same time.

Sorry for the long posting but amongst all that I have seen the clay pigeon shooting and hunting one come & go several times.

I tell you what I'll do. I'll do my best to enjoy the car with whatever I choose to do it, be it plough about in a field to go shooting or drive to Tesco at rush hour

If I see you I'll give you a big smile and wave from me shiney new motor.

What I won't do is moan like an old maid about other people choices.

Now away and **** on someone elses parade.

I wasn't moaning about your choice, just interested in whether you had actually started the sport, your response probably answers my question.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your shiney new motor, its what makes the world go around.

I had a 4x4 in 1990 one of the first SWB Shoguns, I did use it regularly in AWD trial events but it was for me at that time a great road vehicle & I especially liked the driving position, a decade later I had a Galaxy and an Alhambra for work reasons but which I appreciated equally for their drving position.

Now 2 decades later I find myself in a Yeti 4x4 because I wanted to save it from being scrapped & I needed a project and its really nice to be back in a similar vehicle albeit a more manageable size, I have no justification for owning it but its a keeper because I really like it so regardless of what you use your Land Cruiser for I understand the attraction and its a good choice.

I've bought a Landcruiser.

Went down to test the demo, turned out the demo was available to buy (I always thought you had to wait 3 months).

Drove it, liked it. It's quite old fashioned in some places but looks like it will be a very easy car to live with whilst still doing everything I need.

Got offered a very good price for the BMW which is what swung it.

I think you know why I gave this post a sad reaction emoji. :D

Sure it will be a great car and you will have immense fun in it.......just not as much fun as a Unimog of course :tongueout:

Aaaand I've not bought a Land Cruiser

So Toyota phones me up last night  -

"we're really sorry but we offered you £4k too much for your car we can't go through with the deal"

"My plate is on retention and I've just scheduled the cancellation of my insurance"

"Aye sorry about that, we'll cover your expenses but we won't go through with the deal"

I started haggling over free servicing etc but eventually I just said that I didn't want it anymore give me my money back.

Waiting on the call this morning to sort that out.

Can't uncancel my car insurance either so I need to start a new policy. (anyone looking for insurance and you're looking at OneCall you can get £40 off with code - AM6)

I also need to get new plates printed because my private plate is on retention (probably quicker and will be less hassle when I eventually switch).

I also need to restart the direct debot for the extended warranty on the beemer which I'd also cancelled.

I know I could threaten them with legal action as I have a signed contract for the sale of my vehicle but it's not worth the bother.

The search goes on I guess.

Lousy customer service from that Toyota Dealership. Remember the car in front is a Toyota slogan. Perhaps they should amend it "Want lots of grief buy a Toyota".

Been able to restart the warranty debit with BM at least.

I agree (not that you need it).  What a shame.  I'd have expected better from Toyota :wondering:

Unimog it is then?  (Parking space still available ).

Onwards and upwards.

Gaz

Sadly it reflects just how little 5 year old 335d x-drive is going to get at auction.

Some sales person coc-ked up in a major way on what they could punt the car for even if it was going to WBAC.

PS

I just did a WBAC check on a 2015 registered 60,000 mile one with 1 previous keeper & FSH.  So they came back £13,000.

ain't got my money back

ain't got any insurance

ain't got the right plates on the car

ain't got a V5

ain't getting any calls from the stealer

Have just emailed the CEO of the group. Doubt it'll do much.

Step 1 - get militarised unimog

Step 2 - accidentally do bad 47 point turn around Toyota dealer lot

With the car aspect still in abeyance, I spotted these outfits which may be a slightly more contemporary than my previous suggestions.

I quite like that one.

Got my money back from Toyota today.

All it took were 4 phone calls yesterday to chase all the unreturned calls that were promised

An email to the CEO

A fairly strong phone call with the franchise priciple who called me after the ceo got involved, which started off with him saying sorry it was a mistake but we're not paying anything and ended with them paying my expenses and delivering number plates to my house

Another two phone calls today to chase the refund and the promised email from the franchise principle that never appeared.

Nae bother eh!

@Aspman

Well done but not good that it went that way.

I found that when a Dealership messes me about that getting a loan of a demonstrator and not returning it gets their attention.

When they say they are getting the police i say on you go, i am getting the Tele & the Courier article sorted right now, and the Sun and the Record.

That used to get a refund and interest and expenses through into the account quite quick and their car back.

Last time there was a nice gesture payment because they co-cked up so badly.

  1. Buy Unimog
  2. drive to Toyota dealer
  3. Park Unimog on top of Land Cruiser
  4. Plant flag of victory through Land Cruiser roof and claim it as yours
  5. Post pictures on Briskoda
  6. Become all time legend

Borrow Boss Fox tank it should not get stuck and feel free to visit aforementioned Toyota dealer and rearrange their forecourt whilst looking for a place to park and ask how much to part-ex your tank.

Alternative attire suggestion for the Unimogniform:
