2020 FL Superb rear camera retrofitted

Another day, another reverse camera and I’m very proud to say that I can confirm the reverse camera can be fitted to the 2020 model year Facelift Superb. The camera fitting on these is a bit different with the new rear plinth but that actually makes it easier to fit. I am super pleased I could confirm this works on the FL Superb.

 

Additionally, as this car is an SE-L with the A5 camera as standard for Dynamic Light Assist, I was able to code Lane Assist for the owner, a £535 option from Skoda, coded in 20 mins! Annoying the TSR is now an FeC on the 2Q0 A5 camera so I don’t have the option to code that unfortunately. 

 

Other options coded include 
Comfort entry on the drivers seat
Skoda Surround and Virtual Sub 
DLA always active 
Fan speed lights in Auto climate and AirCare always active
Automatic Summertime for clock
Refuel quantity in Maxidot

Chrome strip on the boot gives it away. It’s wonky on the left in my pics there, that was sorted before the owner left. Car is just a couple of weeks old.

Which company fitted your reversing camera please? I've just bought a Skoda Superb Estate 1.6 SE Technology TDI Greenline 5D 118 BHP Diesel and would like to fit a reversing camera that fully integrates into the central console (just like a factory original).

I didn’t as it’s really hard to see, I made a tool to help me fit them.

I wanted to ask, did you calibrate the rear view camera? I also retrofitted the rear view camera on my Octavia before, but I couldn't calibrate it according to the correct procedure, I have no idea why. 

Or is it even needed? I have trailer assist also. I know, that in Octavia MK4 the rearview camera can virtually "rotate", is it possible that with correct calibration also the MK3 Octavia should have this function?

Calibration is easy enough with ODIS but I don't think it's possible with VCDS. At least I couldn't do it

Thank you for this, I will try it again, but it was not working last time, I was not sure why  

And I have ODIS-E, where is not the procedures like in ODIS-S, I need to fill in a lot of parameters, but I will try it based on your guide

Would that work on my 17 plate? SE trim I have the media unit with touch sensitivity, but not Nav. Also regular sound system. Thanks!

I tried this Sasha but it didn’t seem to make any difference to the car, I’ve certainly not got those two extra settings on my infotainment screen. Not sure what I’ve done wrong..

I had to restart the infotainment. Just press and hold on/off button.  It will switch off and then starts up again after few seconds.

Hi Sasha, 

i read your post with great interest regarding you fitting a rear view camera to a 2020 facelift Superb estate, I hope you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I have just sold my 2017 superb sportline estate for a new 2022 sportline plus estate with DSG (previously always been a manual driver).

I have read countless accounts of the DSG boxes being much nicer to drive and also glowing accolades from people towing caravans so I sold one of my kidneys to buy this car 

 

I was looking at buying a rear view camera for my new 2022 sportline to assist when hooking up my caravan to save me murdering my wife  who just waves her arms around like she is herding cows !

 

,I have now discovered out that my 2015  Hex +USB +CAN VCDS  dongle  will not interface fully with my new car, it showed the  modules on a full scan and their status but not the DSG module and said "incompatible" so I need to buy a new VCDS that will interface properly.

 

I have found out that there are SFD access blockers on some modules on the newer cars but not sure whether the rear camera fitting would be permitted / blocked by SFD when it comes to coding with even a newer VCDS??

Did you have to code your camera in -or was it plug and play as some people cite on posts ?

Also did you fit an official camera or  something like this one ?

I see you are a fellow caravanner which leads me to my final question, did you encounter any problems coding in your after market tow bar electrics ?

I am getting mine done next week in Abergele, they did my last one and coded it in correctly leaving my ACC working correctly and the trailer hitch showing on the screen, was this allowed  on your facelift superb or did you have any issues with the coding of tow bar?
