Well its time to say goodbye.

My Karoq has gone, after 18 years of relatively happy motoring I've left the Skoda family and joined the happy band of Kia drivers.

Last Friday I took delivery of an e-Niro 4+, which does everything my Karoq did and more, including charging my phone without wires.

I'm thinking of making a similar transition, but maybe tempted to stay with Skoda if I can get an Enyaq in a sensible time scale.

I'd definitely be interested to hear about your views on the e-Niro versus the Karoq.

If you are thinking of towing check whether the e-Niro is type approved for it. 

 

I only mention this because two years ago when I was looking to change my Yeti I looked at, and liked, a Kia Niro hybrid. I really liked the car until I found out it was not type approved in the UK for towing.  I could legally fit a towbar but not use it for towing, go figure. The only thing I could use it for was a bike carrier.

Wireless charging is a sore point for some of us whose cars were delivered without the phone box fitted in 2018.  Nearly 5 months to get a  satisfactory outcome.  Skoda's legendary Customer Service. 

Before I get round to even thinking about replacing my 16month old Karoq with a hybrid or EV, Apple may have something interesting to offer.  No doubt this will be amongst many attractive choices by then - (I'll look at Skoda of course).

Yet another 'exciting' new battery technology as well. I've just heard on Bloomberg that Tesla have their doubts about the whole idea, but they would, wouldn't they.

 

Off topic alert - I must say that as a lifelong PC user I'm suddenly thinking that maybe in a year's time, my allegiance may change and the laptop could be replaced by one of the new Apple M1 powered machines.  These achieve new performance standards from a somewhat modest ARM heart, by incorporating much more of the system in one chip.  Back on topic - that concept of doing more with less, is why I went for a 1.0 Karoq, rather than a larger engine.

 

You wouldn't catch me near an Apple product..   let alone an Apple car.

 

Overpriced tech for those with money to burn IMHO.

My Karoq went back to the lease company this morning. It's been a good car.

Unfortunately the Enyaq order book did not open up in time for me, so its being replaced by a VW ID.4. We pick that up tomorrow.

We expect nothing less than a full, in depth review then! ;)

Its going straight to the detailer for a buff up and ceramic coating, so will have it for an hour or so then lose it for a week!
