Bolero MIB1 Update Help Please!

Featured Replies

Hello 👋🏻 to all on Briskoda,

I wonder if I can ask for some help please. We have recently purchased our first ever Skoda. It’s impressed us so far being a vRS 2.0 TSI Manual.

I’ve posted in the welcome forum to say hello and hopefully it’s now okay to ask for some help and advice please.

One area I’m really keen for some help please is for the Bolero MIB1 radio. I’ve done as much searching as I can using the search tool but the threads that appear are not having replies to their messages for help - hence me starting a new topic.

I’ve attached an image containing the details of the software we have now. From my reading, I believe there is a 0490 update available? Having the Canton system and from my reading it appears this latest update may help improve the sound quality somewhat? I’d really appreciate the help of any forum members that may be able to support please. I’ve seen the kind member @BATVANVRS helping others and it would be lovely if you could offer some help at all.

Thank you for being a friendly and informative forum to join and learn with 😁

  • Guys you must post your system model number and SW version first...

  • Downlad link you both have on PM. To get Android Auto you must have both display and glove box unit exchanged. If you are interested pls contact me on PM.

Hi guys,

I have been attempting to update my Amundsen MIB1 in my 2013 Octavia.

I have put in my VIN to the Skoda portal, downloaded & extracted files to the original Skoda SD card but the infotainment will not load the maps!

I have also attempted to use the equivalent file from VW (golf -2015) with the same end result.

Also tried using a USB & a different SD card (both formatted to FAT32) but still no joy! Can anybody help me!?IMG20210916175538.thumb.jpg.7be564278a6523bd249c59e2adf4ecf1.jpgIMG20210916175627.thumb.jpg.f11b60e22729339192605b0cc3bd18e2.jpg

First thing is that the Amundsen will only read maps from a genuine Skoda SD card, so don't bother trying any other SD card.

I've successfully used both the maps from the Skoda portal and the VW website to update a MIB1 Amundsen (I did a byte-by-byte comparison of the files, they're identical).

For me the key steps were (BTW use a PC not a  Mac as the Mac adds files that the Amundsen doesn't like):

1) save the original contents of the SD card onto a PC as a backup

2) do a quick format of the SD card to FAT32 with 4K cluster size

3) unzip the downloaded files onto the PC

4) copy all the newly unzipped files onto the newly formatted Skoda SD card

5) insert SD card into either SD card slot and wait...

Thanks for the quick response.

I have done exactly this multiple times now and infotainment still refuses to load the maps!

I will try one more time later and share the error message I get!

Thanks

Hi @pab567,

Seems you're the man for this. Any chance of pointing me in the right direction for up to date software for an MIB 1 bolero? Looks like 0490 is the latest looking through here.

Cheers.
