MY17 Superb Retrofitted with Direct TPMS

Featured Replies

But before installing direct TPMS did You have indirect one? Actually my infotainment screen shown only if the tyre lost pressure but doesn't tell me how much it lost, marking in yellow whch of the four have (it can be even more than one) has a different one since the last time I reset the switch.

Last but not least: indirect TPMS (the one factory fitted) should work with ABS, while direct on each single wheel, am I right?

  • It depends what system your wife's car has. Indirect systems don't have physical pressure sensors, instead they rely on rotational differences between the wheels (via the ABS sensors) so would just ne

  • I'll post up the exact VCDS/OBDEleven coding steps shortly. I'll also post up the link that allows u to create the RDX parameter file, to b loaded via VCP/ODIS.

@RT_SGP - the TPMS module i bought came pre-loaded with a parameter file, so i don't have step by step instructions for it - sorry.

The RDKS generator (link here) is used to create the ZDC parameter file, which is used to load into module #65-tire pressure, via VCP or ODIS.

u can have multiple tire sets in ur parameter file, or have just the one set of tire pressures.

With the generator, can You set up more than one set of tyres? I mean: can I make a unique file that contains, for example the Summer tyres (18 inches wheels) AND the Winter ones (17 inches), and select the ideal pressure when travelling with passengers only or with passenger and trunk full of luggage (as the label near the fuel lid)?

The generated file can be uploaded via VCDS or can be also via OBD11 or ODIS? Once I generate it, is it better to download for each of these platform (having therefore 3 files in total)?

Yes, I had indirect TPMS before, which uses the ABS wheel sensors to detect rotational speed of each wheel, then compares it to detect any differences, which would indicate a loss in pressure.

My version of indirect TPMS would tell me which specific tyre is the issue. See image below.

With the generator, yes, u can setup different sets of tyre sizes and select in the infotainment screen the appropriate set, based on what u have on the car.

The generator creates a parameter file which can only b uploaded via VCP or ODIS.

VCDS or OBDEleven cannot do this.

Undertstood: my screen is similar to Your, ony difference are the keys which are part touch panel on mine and where You have TRAFFIC I have APP. According to what You say I can read the value on each tyre and on infotainment as well on virtual cockpit: are the coding of these two (infotaiment and virtual cockpit) made via ODIS or VCP? As long as I find the referrement values for each condition, I'll make a set with all of the conditions and export as VCP o ODIS format

Furthermore I'm trying to swap from 8 to 9.2 infotainment screen (both based on MIB3 so it should be pretty easy), but do I have to code the infotainment screen again?

as per the earlier pages in this TPMS discussion topic - yes, tyre pressure for each tyre can b viewed on the infotainment screen as well as the dashboard screen (VC or analog). if u follow the coding and adaptation instructions correctly, u'll b good. u don't need VCP or ODIS for this part. u can use either VCDS or OBDEleven.

with regards to swapping screens, i don't know about the MIB3 units.
with pre-facelift Superb, it requires the MIB2 unit firmware to be updated to MIB2.5 firmware, during which the 8" screen is swapped out for the 9.2" screen.

there was no need of coding the screen in this instance.

Now onto the next project that I am contemplating - OEM 360 Camera on Superb.

I did it on my on my Karoq: once everything is installed You need to parametrize ADAS from beginning, otherwise side mirrors will show a distorted view

Just one question: does the control unit has to be put horizontal or vertical works the same? I ask You as it seems impossible to fit horizontal, without risking, in case of rain, that the wires near the plug can get water! Can You help me?

I have it mounted in the trunk of my car (non Skoda) and it works without any problems.

It shouldn't matter horizontal or vertical mounting.

I did horizontal as that is OEM for the likes of Golf, Passat, Kodiaq etc etc - so I followed that.

It's been 5 plus years now - no issues with rain or water getting in.

@JR RS and everyone else who did the retrofit: have a question for You: I (or better the mechanic) did the retrofit and it works perfectly, I can see the values only on the infotainment screen BUT I cannot on the virtual cockpit except when the pressure in the tires is it too low or or too high: is there a way to visualize on the virtual cockpit even when pressure is right?

Hello, I opened the trunk liner where you place first aid box and placed it horizontally using double sized tape. I did not have tools to remove bumber instead i simply stuck it above rear wheel well by opening trunk lining. Its been few months and it simply works fine.Including picture of the exact location.

wrong coding, assuming the Virtual Cockpit firmware supports it from the Kamiq platform... a polite note, Karoq questions do not belong in a Superb topic

I don't have a virtual cockpit, so I can't give u an answer apart from all the details I've already provided at the start of this discussion.

The second page of this discussion, user RT_SGP with virtual cockpit shares about his experience. Does that shed any light for u?

It's hard to tell wat is going on with urs.

Provided u followed all the coding instructions across all the different modules, there should b no reason for it not to show on ur instrument cluster.

Did You, or the mechanic, activate the sensors once fitted on the car?

Why activate? System detected self

Right. I find my problem. I did connect my tmps wires to the reversing camera wires who go to the multimedia. I change connection on the wires under the dash and now I have pressure on my dash but not on mib. I through connection can be done evrey can bus wire...but my ideea was wrong. Thanks guys!

The display must work for both at the same time.

Working now after I connect to blind spot . Any other can bus wire where I try to connect did work just one of display. Now I got info on both of them. How I said...my bad!

You mean I can see on the infotainment and virtual cockpit simultaneously? In my case I can see always from infotainment and on vc only when one or more tire has a different pressure from the one stored
