esure insurance and strut brace fiasco

Featured Replies

On fitting my seat strut brace to the fabia and driving round for a couple of weeks I decided to phone my insurance esure and declare this mod. On being put through to the nice man in

I am 27 and got a surprisingly good quote from the RAC yesterday, £430 fully comp, but i have yet to ask about modifications should I decide to do any ;)

most insurance companies are alright about it arnt they? anything that wont improve the speed or engine performance mods to the engine etc....are fine? i had no problems with my old bodykit on my older fabia.... and rung up they told me so long as it doesnt effect the engine its fine:confused:

£950 jesus. I am 34 and it was only £339 with direct line. Strut brace made no difference to quote. its a post code lottery with insurance it seems.

I was amazed when i moved out of my mums for the 3rd time that owning your own home made such a diffference it made my insurance 50 quid cheaper and that was moving to a rougher area.

I have the same indian people problem with my Tiscali broadband.

Last year i was insured with budget they are in South Africa at least they can understand you.

try swinton or CIS they are good i have 9 points mods and its still just a smidge over 300 quid

Elephant always seem pretty good when it comes to mods - tyr their online qutation thing....

im 21 on old dears policy cos my crash is still showing up (0 points) :( but G63 is still giving me £100.19 a month for any driver including under 25's with CIS... good old student life eh? ;) all the mods on my 206 were free - suspension, chip, filter, decat, zorst, alloys. made 35 brake over stock bhp but cost nowt more than the premium (£875). result

would like to think mods on the furby would be nowt to...

did a pre date quote with elephant with those mods (+30% power) and got a quote in my own name for the same pug for £730. will see what they say with me furby...

Liverpool Victoria are good, and don't seem to give a toss about additions one way or other. Alarm = no discount and iirc i remember somebody saying they didn't care about mods either.

I was with Elephant last year but this year Admiral (same Company) were a lot cheaper.

The strut brace is listed as 'suspension other' in their list.

I was with Elephant and they wanted £40 for the brace.

My current £480 1yr NCB @ 25yrs old didn't seem too bad. And the brace and Dragon box are free

Adrian Flux all the way.... Also try Privilege.

LV won't let you mod. things anymore. My suspension change meant I had to can. the policy and look elsewhere.

Fabia's brokered through Adrian Flux, can't recall the ins. company name apart from their website seemed to deal mostly with vans. Scooby's insured with Privilege with mods declared (brakes, exhaust BB, alloys, lights etc).

J.

I'm actually with e-sure and have informed them about my strutbrace. They said that's fine and will log it but don't count it as a performance mod so no change to my insurance. I reckon you have just been unlucky with who you got to speak to, I didn't speak to India, just UK>

Working for the co-op i expected a nice quote. £600 for a 26 year old with 2 years no claims, no speedy points and its garaged!!! The elegance estate even has an alarm!!! I think part of the problem was i use the car for work and do rack up the miles.

When i recently moved to essex they demanded an extra £200!!! Granted its not garaged anymore!!! After an extensive battle i got it down to £100 extra.

However CIS have just charged me £14 to cover a dealer vehicle for two days whilst mine was in!!!

Not happy!!

Car was in for the usual - fuel flap, rear door leaks, rattles - good to know others feel my pain.

On the bright side skoda uk have been spot on with helping get it resolved. Car is now not being fixed at **** & ****** but going to give the new place in basildon a go.

For a bonus getting the door handels and protection strips painted as dont have time to do it myself.

Working for the co-op group i expected a healthy discount on my insurance from CIS.

I was charged £600 for fully comp on my new furby estate. 26 year old male,

2 years no claims, no speedy points!!! The car is garaged and has an alarm!!

I know I use the car alot for work and rack up the miles but seems high.

They then tried to charge me an extra 200 notes to bring it down south when i moved to essex - granted not garaged but £800 in total!!!!!!

To top the lot they charged my £14 to cover a dealer car whilst mine was in!!

Make you own mind up on them!!

Car was in for the usual - fuel flap, rear door leaks, rattles so good to know others feel my pain!!

Skoda UK were very good when ***** & ***** did not fix it. Giving the new place in basildon a go next week - anyone used them yet?

Also getting the black plastic bumper trim and door handles painted!

Those insured with Admiral may be intereste dto know that calling them before 3pm gives you a good chance of speaking to an operator in England. After 3pm its' India only.

I was with Elephant last year but this year Admiral (same Company) were a lot cheaper.

The strut brace is listed as 'suspension other' in their list.

I was with Admiral before I had any mods but they told me they would not insure me if I had either a strut brace or fmic so I had to leave them and go with Greenlight.

I'm with the chicken one - Oh wtf's it called....

um........

um.......

Oooo, I know Swiftcover.com

£268 full NCD me and the wife to drive and protected NCB and Legal.

Elephant (with whom we have been for the last two years) didn't want to know the Vrs. No discount for IAM members tho'.

Also the same company is £168 for a brand new Octavia - Damn good I reckon

Sweet Jesus were do all you people live who are paying 300 squid and are your cars parked in the middle of mine fields guarded by the "mitchel brothers". I gonna try some of the suggestions tommorrow in work Admiral and Elephant and see how I get on.....

iam 20years young Brand new Fabia VRS cost 1200inc8%admin for paying monthly as well. Rang up to declare front upper strut brace, lowered by 25mm on dampers and springs and an anti-roll bar Only wanted 100 extra. Iam with Norwich Union top class result for me in my eyes.

Although the young women english though didnt understand what i was declaring.

GreenLight are the best IMO.

They do not charge for any mods except a 1 off £25 admin charge, but nothing on your monthly/yearly premium. They also dont charge for speeding related offences, meaning 6 points on your license means nothing ;)

most companys this march when i renewed my car insureance wouldnt take me on. 3yrs ncb, 20yrs old and live in a good area and parked on driveway. so i had to stick to norwich union, Carnt wait for nxt year, ill be 21 and 4yrs ncb. How do other young people get on? As insureance is i think is one big fiasco for young people.

Just tried elephant underwritten by Admiral withe declared btace

I was quoted £650 last year, so I spent a Saturday morning hunting around and eventually went with the AA for £333. This is just about half price for the same cover! It surprises me how dramatic the differences in prices are. My only requirement was not to deal with anyone in India, because having to communicate with them in the event of a claim would be an absolute bl00dy nightmare!
