MY21 - Columbus MIB3 - HOME Screen setup

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a new Kodiaq and was in process of setting up the home screen. I have 3 problems/questions which I will elaborate below. Hopefully some forum members can throw some light on these before I am "forced" to go the dealership.

Use of "Home" button: I have two tiles setup as seen in pictures below. First one has got 3 widgets (phone, media, map) and the second one is blank. In terms of scrolling sequence, the "first" tile is first and when I scroll (double finger swipe) I go to the "second" tile. But whenever I press the "Home" button it shows the "second" tile which is blank (and I expect it to show the "first" tile). How can I default the "Home" button press to show the "first" tile?

Adding new widgets: When I try and add new widgets to the empty tile in the home menu, I get following options (see pictures below). Is this all the widgets we can add or am I missing some widgets (e.g. settings)?

Adding new tile in home screen: How do I add a "third" tile to the home screen menu? I tried "edit" mode but it only allows me to add widgets in empty spaces or to replace "widgets" No place to add a new "tile" into the home screen menu.

Depending by the tile format you choose (1x1, 2x2), the home screen change format. YOu cannot add a third tile becase the 2 tile present on the left are already the minimum size. The toal size of the screen is 3x2, so you can use only or 6 tile or 3 tile.

In mine for example I have set the 2x2 tiel with the map on the left and the other 2 tiles on the right.

You can use the  widget only   oncem so if you use the phone widget in the home screen you cannot use it anymore (eg, in the second screen).

When you fill the second screen with al  widget, the home button will show the first page. Until that you have to scroll the page to show the home page.

This is what I understand from the strange logic of this system.

@edika Thank you, I will check this especially about filling up second page in order to show first page when I click home button.

Do you also know if the widgets I show are the ones which are visible in your car? I was thinking that these are too few and miss some like settings widget...

No the available widget are all shown there. You can setup some favourite (even settings) in the profile  serttings, visible by scrolling down the display from the top.

@edika

When I scroll down from the top and long press a favourite icon I can go to manage favourites settings. But here I only see the following options (nothing about settings). Is there some other screen where you add what all options you want the ability to setup as favourites?

I found the same problem, when I put widgets on the first screen, pressing the home button always brought up the second empty screen.
All I did was put the widgets I wanted on the second screen not the first.

But I do not really use the the home  screen, I just leave it on radio or media so not really bothered.

@Billywizzo Nice idea in desperate times :)

So for me the status is as follows:

Use of home button: Now I have configured all empty spaces on second screen with available widgets. After this I transition between two buttons - Menu and home.

1st attempt: Press menu, press home >>> correct (1st page) of home screen is displayed

2nd attempt: Press menu, press home >>> incorrect (2nd page) of home screen is displayed

3rd attempt: Press menu, press home >>> correct (1st page) of home screen is displayed

4th attempt: Press menu, press home >>> incorrect (2nd page) of home screen is displayed

I have also reset the infotainment (long press on power button) to no avail.

Adding new widgets: Still cannot find a way to add a widget for settings. Neither in home screen nor in favourites pull down bar on top

Adding new page on home screen: Still do not find a way to add a 3rd page to the home screen menu. But I suppose this is not needed considering the lack of widgets (what are available are already added on first two pages)....

Probably there is not the option to set 'Settings' as a favourite because it is a main option of the main Menu. You can access it by using Menu=>Settings. Are the same 2 step needed to open Favourite=>Settings.

It's odd behaviour but it seems whichever of the two screens the Nav 2x tile is on is the screen that the "Home" button will not land on. I've experimented with this by changing where the 2x2 Nav is and the behaviour is repeatable. I suppose Nav doesn't really need to be under home as it can be under favourites or I'll mostly be using Android Auto.

edit - found out how. Bit fiddly but sorted.

How do you change the two widgets on the Home Screen (the map is always present I understand) ? I use CarPlay so don’t need phone or Music.

Thanks

Press on the widget you don’t require, a red trash can appears in the top corner, you can then delete, and then add the widgets you want.

Thanks Keeney. Managed to sort it. I get a short list of options. Also no second screen of widgets as my Kodiaq is a couple years old.
