Octavia 4x4 problem

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems with their haldex on their Octavia. Recently purchased this vehicle second hand and only noticed the past couple of days that I don’t think the rear wheel drive system is kicking in after losing traction at the front. When I lose traction there is a squeaking noise coming from the rear, would anyone know what this might be. Need to take the car back to garage but would be worth knowing what the problem is before so. Thanks Jake

Had it with my suoerb 4x4 when I brought it at 30k miles. Front wheels spinning and traction light flashing, no rear drive but no squealing.. The Pump had been replaced and was replaced again but still the same.. controller then changed but still the same, wiring then checked fully, no faults so they finally replaced the haldex clutch packs which on inspection had basically turned to blamanche... all done under warrantee at Skoda hence having to replace pump and controller before clutch packs. We all knew it was clutch pack but Skoda had to go through the motions before replacing haldex unit...

The squealing maybe the pump bu99ered so you may get away with a new pump but most likely the plates are stuffed. There is a haldex specialist in Crewe that I spoke to about it all and he explained that he is replacing 3 units a day !! Mainly from the tt’s golf r’s and S3’s. Because they run higher power and put more pressure on the plates

My Scout is 2016, with latest Haldex; no changeable filter, but easy to clean. You can hear the pump running, if you want to lie under the rear in this weather! If yours has not had filter change/clean and fresh fluid it must be overdue by now. Easy job, I’m lucky as Edinburgh has good VAG independent specialist garages: non-Skoda.

I was told when I purchased it that it had just been serviced. It’s needed to go back into the nearest hawco garage, but they aren’t doing services/repairs at this moment of time...

If it isnt working id let the garage know where you purchased it from. They are liable to repair it so hopefully you will get it resolved?
