Windows open after car is locked.

Featured Replies

Hi All, I've recently purchased a used 2007 Mk2 Octavia 1.4 petrol.  Yesterday when I parked up at a friends house I locked the car as usual. When I came back to the car about twenty minutes later I found all four windows fully open.. This happened me with a previous mk 2 octavia when I locked the car all the windows just wound themselves down. Any one give me an idea what might be going on here and how to rectify it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Normally it's caused by sitting on the keys and pressing down the unlock button 😂

Could anything have been pressing on them?

Could it be that you had the keys in your pocket and accidently held some pressure on the key fob open button. As you might or might not know, if you hold the open button on most key fobs too long, it not only opens the car but drops all the windows down at the same time. This happened years ago with a Mazda. I must have pressed my pocket with the keys in against something and found the next morning the windows had dropped down. Always take my keys out of my pocket now as soon as I get home.

I think this happened to me once, I had parked it outside subway and when I came back the windows were wound down, I thought teenagers had done it as I may have left the drivers window down. But maybe it's a glitch.

I used to leave my keys in my back pocket, but then found it was winding down my windows when I sat down.

I now take my keys out of my pocket, and the windows remain up...

Apologies for the delay replying to you all. Thank you for your help with this, It dose appear to but a case of the button on the key being pressed unknowingly.  I never knew that function was on the keys. I guess every day is a school day.  Thanks again everyone.

Also note that if you unlock the doors but don't open one, the car will relock them after a short while.

So this is how you can then come back to a locked car but with all the electric windows down.
