Hi guys,

 

We've had our Octavia vRS for about 5-years now, had the gear shift knob replaced under warranty as it wore out, but now its gone again and needs replacing. I'm going to get something from Black Forest Industries for the gear knob, but the handbrake sleeve/cover has also worn away and needs replacing and I'm struggling to find anywhere that does an aftermarket option. I assume they've used a cheap bonded leather for the handbrake, and its come apart and gone all rough. 

 

Are there any options out there for a replacement other than OEM?

Thanks for that BATVANVRS. Its just the handle, the gaiter is fine. 

That doesn't look like normal wear and tear... Do you think sun cream or similar has caused it? - I see you're in Australia

Or frequent use of too much hand sanitiser 

I think a lot of folk forget to treat the leather in their cars - and also forget the gators and handbrakes and gearlevers.  That damage is caused by the drying of the leather and the top napping wearing away from constant use......folks.....you need to treat your leather parts of your car.....(I used Autoglym, but other products are definately available).

My handbrake has gone the same way, being a taxi driver, I find myself tapping along to music on it whilst waiting for a job, I think my wedding ring is to blame.
