New rough idle and when the breaks are pressed shakes the car.

Featured Replies

Hi guys have been doing some research with no luck on here.

Long story short. The car is a 2007 octavia vrs tfsi stage one map precat delete ram air cone filter 50mm lowered on coilovers. Thursday last week car drove perfectly fine. Friday morning got in it to go to work bit of a bouncy idle with a bit of a misfire on cylinder 2. Check spark plug ok put the old one in no different swapped for the original on still the same. Sitting around 750. Going to try the throttle body reset tomorrow. noticed today when in traffic. When I had my foot on the brake the car would bouncy at idle like being on a trampoline. Take my foot off it would stop? So confused. Just want my car to idle properly 😪.  Checked vac lines to brake booster no cracks apparent.

Sorry for the long one guys

Thanks for the help in advance.

Any fault codes?

Checking the vac line was a good call. Usually pressing the brake while at idle would show if there was an issue there. If no difference then most likely coil related (at least starter for 10).

No fault coded coil packs are OK no misfires. Sounds like an off beat idle. Could it be balance shafts or dmf

When I was reversing tonight with no extra throttle just idle the car was bouncing around like when it's on the brake. The lights a dimming even though the are leds so I don't know what it could be
