Delivery times?

Featured Replies

So it's been an anniversary of my order with a visit to the dealer just to find that "no news, no confirmed build date". You know, they say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. I feel like I've been though all of them, but now I'm starting all over again :D

  • Well 13.5 months waiting and I finally collected my Octy Estate vRS yesterday. I couldn't be happier  👍😀

  • After 13 months waiting my SEL iV Plug in Hybrid arrived.    All seems good with it so far, just to understand some of the infotainment features!

  • Just took delivery of mine but had to cancel some of the optional extras

Can anyone offer any info as to the procedure.
I’m in the UK. I ordered late November and obviously have no build date.
What does this actually mean is likely to happen? I’ve been told that November is “pencilled” as a delivery date but this sounds like hot air to me.
If November was a likely date should I have received a build date by now?

Im just wondering whether I can get the dealer to chase something as opposed to him just waiting for a build date.
I need to know as I’m keeping an ageing car on the road. If they’d said March 2023 I’d have got rid of this car ages ago instead of spending well over £1k in repair bills trying to drag it out until an unrealistic delivery date arrives.

Mine was finished and ready for delivery on 17 July. It arrived in Romania on 26 July. Since then it appears un the system with the status in delivery to the dealer.

And, the dealer cannot say when it will arrive.

Truck driver took it home 😛

I'm going to pickup mine in few moments. We'll see if it has all the options i've ordered. Read about someone having dynamic blinker removed from Kamiq. Dealer asked to leave out Canton. Didn't agree to leave them. We'll see if they are there or not.

Factory is/was on holidays. Wait for few weeks to get any real answers. I bet they are trying to figure out what parts they can deliver etc.

It all also depends if they managed to build all unfinished cars before the holidays.

Do you have any idea if it is related to transport trucks&drivers not being available? I mean transport from the Curtici customs ( https://goo.gl/maps/bgNWGPvx3dEtHprY8 ) where the cars enter Romania to your dealer in Bucharest. I know similar stories from clients of Renault - the car was delivered to the hub (in Ciorogarla) and was sitting there for more than a month because the dealer didn't was to separately pay the transport for a single car...

On the contrary - I heard there are no drivers to take our cars home (either their home or our home)... 🤣

It's funny how those guys (Skoda HQ and Dealers) think and behave...
I never had a build date, but I got the VIN about 1 month ago, and I was told it will soon go into production (whatever SOON means in Skoda world). Other customers reported here they have had a build week way before they had a VIN, so it's hard to say whether you'll get your car in November or not. Long story short, we suspect that not even Skoda knows exactly what's the procedure.
BTW, what did you order? You might also want to add your details here to the "purgatory" list:

I just don’t get it how this is possible, having so many ppl waiting for over a year with no info yet 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was given a build date shortly after ordering (after a week or two, don't remember) and it changed more than a couple of times in the meantime. It will almost be 1 year since I've placed the order... Others here were given a build date only when the car was actually scheduled for production so there is no rule apparently.

And the waiting game has ended! Ordered 23.8.2021.

I feared that- no-one really knows what's going on. I've been totally passive thus far. Just wondering whether it's even worth being more proactive. Probably not.

I'm on the legendary list already 😀- (Hatchback 1.5 TSI)

Shouldn't they (dealership) take care of that during the "delivery preparation" process?
Or is it the hardware-compatibility story again - 1896 not being out for all HW?

It would seem they all get delivered with 1889 from the factory nowadays. Perhaps 1896 is only for pre-1889 cars with problems. 1889 seems to be mostly free of problems, not many complaints on that version.

I've had an email today from Johnsons Skoda inviting me to their VIP event. I haven't even had the car I ordered over a year ago and they're trying to sell me another😂

They will. But i guess the 1896 only comes via OTA

Yessss. All the bells and whistles!

Short ~100km driving around the city today. Car is well.. still huge compared to old mk7.5 golf.

Improvements have happened since test drives. Charging cable unlocks when unlocking the car via KESSY or coming to the car.

Makes sense. You should order now, if you want Octavia mk5 delivered in 10 years. Even then, probably alot of people who will order after you, will get the car faster for some "mysterious" reason. ;)

After loosing any information for my Octavia which was finished production on 17/July and arrived to Romania in Curtici "the hub where all cars arrived from Europ to Romania" around 15 or 16 July. I made lot of tries to get information and Finaly it is now arrived to dealer and on 17/August I'll collect it.

And here are some information that can be useful for people from Romania and maybe similar for other European Countries:

  • All dealers of Skoda, Seat, VW, and Porche are transferring the orders to Porche Romania,
  • Porche Romania is the official importer for how the orders are coming in Romania,
  • Lagermax is the shipping company which take care of delivering the cars in Romania and to the dealer.
  • The only way you can get information about the shipping of your car from Lagermax, is to ask the importer to ask them.
  • Lagermax is not giving any information to the car owner nor the dealer, only the importer.

Customer service at its finest.

Today is exactly 1 year since we placed the order and production has been (finally) confirmed! Supposed to be delivered at the beginning of september (3,5 month delay)

I don't understand. So when is it supposed to be delivered now?

It's supposed to be delivered begining of september (in 3-4 weeks) instead of mid-may

“pencilled” as a delivery date means nothing

All it means is someone probably put 12 months in the estimated delivery date field, because at the time they had nothing more accurate to enter.

What you need to do is ask (ring up, don’t email, as answering email is patchy) your dealer (or pop in if close by) to send you a screen print of your current order status on Skoda system.  Don’t let them just give a date over the phone because lazy staff will just make up a date.  (It isn’t instant to login in, look up your order number, and retrieve the data).

The status system doesn’t notify dealers of changes, at the early stages, so unless they go and look they won’t know if it has changed since last time they queried it.  Therefore a quick answer where they last pencilled it in might bot be current.

Been driving it already, I admit it was worth the waiting. The car is very good, engine (1.5TSI manual) is lively, you can drive it like an auto on 3rd :D Build quality - excellent. But something at the back is rattling (car` got like 35km by now). I think it might be some snow scraper that was added to it and is in one of the plastic pockets in the trunk but will see. Anyways, great car, value is incredible on this one.

Negatives too - the steering pull setup is somewhat weird, I feel as if it has fixed positions - it would either go towards me too much or go back too much. And yes, my sweet spot, audio is mediocre (Style). It sounds like my Samsung S21 ultra. Let`s hope its easy to fix.
