Blimey Ed' date=' its going to be a monster.

Sounds like a very well thought out conversion - to an already pretty sorted car.

Do you fancy waiting for the tyres until its ready? I quite like the idea of a passenger ride ;)[/quote']

No problem, I'm in no hurry for the tyres.

expect to break the

Will it actually be able to get the power down onto the rollers to get some figures though ;)

Eddy, have you considered going Standalone on the engine management, or does the price outweight the benefits? Also, (maybe i missed it) have you done any suspension changes to handle 400-500hp? What about the haldex controller, are you using the stock or the uprated one?

Dont forget the exhaust temp sensor, saves a meltdown

I see no benefit in standalone engine management only negatives. Why would I need it as AFAIK can it only reduces functionality over the capability of the stock ECU.

Suspension has been upgraded, as have the brakes and haldex controller.

Eddy - the spec sounds brilliant but how will the 4x4 drivetrain cope with that sort of power and torque (in terms of additional strain)? Does anyone currently run 400-500bhp on an Octy 4x4 reliably?

No Octy's that I know of but there's R32's running the same basic drivetrain setup with over 700bhp. Also pretty sure there's high bhp TT's out there too.

I suppose only time will tell but it'll be fun finding out.

Fair enough, I assumed the R32 setup was a slightly updated/beefed up version of what we run but as you say; it will certainly be fun testing it! :D

If things dont start breaking it should be absolutely awesome.

I'm changing the gearbox to an 02M from a TT which is what you find in an R32. I also have a spare Haldex rear diff from an R32 but according to haldex there is no difference.

Does that mean you'll have a spare fuel pump at the end of the upgrade? ;)

I know where you're going with this but unfortunately the vRS and 4x4 pumps are different due to the 4x4 having a twin tank setup.

Right oh - shutting up now :)

do you really want to risk all this on your car eddy?

your more than welcome to fit it all to my car so i can see what brakes if you want so that your car doesn't get damaged :)

Neither am I :mad::mad::mad::mad::thumbup:

you know jim has some rather nice ATP GTRS turbos ;)

oh and

:wrthless:

are you getting a boost controller fitted that gives low boost till around 4000 or so rpm so nothing doesnt break?

Dammit! Wish you'd have said that before the work started.

serves you right for not thinking things through doesn't it ;)

I have photos of the engine out of the car, an empty engine bay and a 2 boxes full of redundant parts. Not really sure they're worth posting.

Why would I need a boost controller to do that? That's what the ECU is for. The size of this turbo though it won't make significant boost below 4krpm even if I wanted it to. That doesn't mean stuff won't break though, redline the engine and sidestep of the clutch to launch should be plenty to test out the drivetrain.

What have you/are you (delete as appropriate) doing about brakes given this much oomph, or are you not really too worried as long as you steer clear of track days?

Oh and I know of a 500 bhp+ TT by dialynx, I followed it round Mallory park (before my engine imploded) covered my windscreen in un-burnt fuel on full throttle!

Common Eddy, get the pics up! :)

I have 4 pot brembos up front and R32 rear brakes. This setup has been ok so far but if it proves to be not upto the job later then I'll have to look at upgrade options.

They're a bit boring but you asked for it.

These were taken last Friday so things have progressed a bit since they were taken.
