Big Turbo setup for my 4x4

Featured Replies

Further to my post here about getting a 6spd gearbox I thought I'd post up a few details of what's I'm having done now my 4x4 has been dropped off at JBS.

Here's a list of the main bits involved:

GT3071R with CNC machined inlet

Stainless steel equal length manifold

Stainless steel downpipe and decat

Inconnel valves with 1mm bigger inlet

Pauter rifle drilled rods

JE overbore pistons

630cc Injectors

4 bar fuel pump

Oil pump

Coolant run on pump

Lots of other bits (bearings etc..) to make the engine like new

Custom Code Phase 3

For the gearbox which is covered in the linked thread above I'm having a TT 6spd gearbox along with driveshafts and other minor bits that are required which will be fitted with a Stage 3+ clutch and flywheel from Spec.

JBS have had my car for just over a week now and I called in today whilst passing and found the following progress had been made:

The engine is now out and the head has been sent out along with the valves for skimming and inlets enlarging by 1mm.

The block is waiting for the pistons to arrive before being sent off for it's rebore.

Engine bay has been prepped and the propshaft has been modified ready for the 6spd box.

Sounds good. Will it be a 1.9T by the time it's finished?

Or perhaps a 1.9 T

Something like that.

Sounding good mate, look forward to seeing this for sure.

Spec clutches are very good indeed :)

Good to hear it's coming on quickly Eddy!

I bet you can't wait to have it back :)

No, I can't wait. I'm not looking forward to having to run it in though. :(

You know, you soon get bored of slapping Evo's and STi's Eddie..............Nah just kidding. I still get cramp from smiling!!:D

Sounds cool and hopefully with you having 4wd then putting the power down to the road should be easier, can't wait to see what it goes like,i'm not jealous at all :finger::rofl:

Our other car which is an Ibiza Sport 130PD.

I'll do that part if you like ;)

Thanks for the offer but I'll struggle through and do it myself. Keeping under 4krpm is gonna be a real test of self restraint.

How much power are you hoping for?

400bhp on low boost possibly going upto 500bhp on high boost.

running in going to be the usual 1000miles then eddy? perhaps a steady motorway jaunt with a few a and b roads will have it done in a week or so.

or you could swap me for my vRS for a month and i'll have it sorted with a daily commute? i'll even throw in a few motorways to vary the engine speeds and if your lucky i'll wash it before you get it back.

sounds awesome though, looking forward to some tested figures and RR graphs.

Any chance of a rough price for how much this is all costing?

I've not had specific running in instructions yet but the clutch will be new and the engine will be as new. I expect running in will be 500-1000 miles. If I use it daily it'll take around 2 weeks to cover that.

If all goes to plan it'll be getting tested with a vbox at bruntingthorpe to get some performance figures for it. RR will also be covered as the JBS RR is expected to be in by the time my car is ready to go on.

very nice!:D

Might pop in on Saturday and have a chat with them about the box... any ideas on price for that yet eddy, pm of course if you dont want it on the forum.

It depends on the existing spec of your car and your exact requirements. Basic big turbo setups start at around £4k (which excludes internals) but for a setup like mine which is that bit more unique and involves a number of handmade made parts etc.. expect to break the £10k mark.

Ball park figure would be about

Again that depends on the spec as the clutch and flywheel I've chosen pretty much double the price, I'll PM you with a few more details.

thanks for that, very interesting!

Blimey Ed, its going to be a monster.

Sounds like a very well thought out conversion - to an already pretty sorted car.

Do you fancy waiting for the tyres until its ready? I quite like the idea of a passenger ride ;)
