Got to say I'm slightly concerned by the amount of problem posts on this site.

I've come here looking for answers to three different things.  I was hoping I'm just missing something but the fact that there are so many posts does not give me hope.

I've got a '21 Octavia Estate SE L.  I've seen the messages about the firmware update so I will try that ASAP.

Issue 1. Sat nav constantly on Loading/Please wait...

Issue 2. Can't work out how to change from being on speed limiter to some form of cruise control.

Issue 3. The mode selection button under the screen appears to do nothing.

For anyone interested - a 30 second video of me pressing some buttons https://photos.app.goo.gl/JP1PAa5MXNhLynDa7

Am I being stupid with any of these issues or is there a problem?

There's a button on the steering wheel to control the driving aids. You should be able to swap between limiter and ACC with that.

Driving mode should work when you've got the ignition on. Are you the primary user?

For the drive assist button I get a left menu open on the virtual cockpit but only lane assist and front assist are options.

If I press the distance rocker I get acc is not enabled.

I am the primary user. Pressing it still does nothing.

It's currently on searching for software updates. How long does that take? I'm on software 1668 currently

I'd have to check, but if acc is saying not enabled have you pulled the little acc stalk on the left of the steering wheel forwards to turn the system on?  If you can see the odometer then acc is off, it disappears when turned on.

Hope that helps - I know exactly how you feel with all the controls - it took me 15 minutes of the drive back from the dealer just to work out how to change radio station!

No problem. I'm pretty sure I'm on because the speed limiter comes on when in position. When off odometer shows as you say

Did you try to restart the infotainment system? Long press (cca 20s) the system on/off button and wait for system to restart. If after the restart the ACC option still gives your "Sorry this function..." message, I would suggest going back to the dealer. The same with Mode button. It should bring up the screen for selecting driving modes.

I couldn't quite see on your cruise control stalk but on all the earlier cars there was a button on the underside which controlled the speed limit function - does your car have this?

This is what the manual says:

One of the times the dealer had my now rejected MK4, when I collected the car I got on the motorway to discover this exact issue...only the speed limiter would work.

They had to reset the ECU for me to get the acc to work again.

This is my cruise control stick. Different to the one in the picture shown in the manual.

Car constantly is Searching for software updates... Doesn't seem to update.

Smartlink also shows as unavailable.

This is a stick for the ACC. So it looks like your car have it but it doesn't work. Your only option is to go back to the dealer to properly check and/or reset the car.

Based on the stick it should have radar since it has the distance toggle. And it's the SE L so if it doesn't I'll be shoving their brochure up their arse

Thanks for the help guys. Think we've confirmed that it isn't my stupidity this time.

So far I'm up to

1. No cruise control/acc

2. No smartlink feature (for Android auto wired)

3. No built in sat nav

4. Mode selection button does nothing.

I'm presuming that although the dealer was in Liverpool and I'm in London I can get this fixed at my local Skoda under warranty? But contact Liverpool first to start the ball rolling?

My mistake.. have the same.. and have also ACC function..

Welcome gh5000x,

I would recommend to diconnect your battery for a good 10 minutes and try that way, if it's not resolved/comes back I would recommend to go back to the dealer.

There will be some warning lights after disconnecting the battery, but they will disappear after a short drive.

All the options/functions are managed by the gateway ECU, hopefully a reset will be the cure!

The best of luck with your new Octavia!

Just a sanity check is it still best practice to do this by disconnecting the negative terminal?

Positive terminal is fine, a lot easier to access, negative terminal is quite short and has a current sensor attached to it. ;-)

Word of caution if doing the positive terminal - Do not let the wrench touch any exposed metal on the car at the same time as the terminal. In general, the negative terminal and the car's metalwork are at the same potential and this will give you a very short low impedance path.

This is why I'd say it's best to use the negative terminal.

If you've ever watched a video of a spanner being melted by a car battery then you'll never undo the positive terminal first :x

Never seen a video but as an uneducated 14 year old who was asked by my dad to disconnect the car battery when he had to go to hospital for a while..... I learned this one the hard (though ultimately harmless) way

There is no metal surrounding the postive terminal, undoing the negative first is a rule made up in the 1980's, everything was made out of metal.

The way our terminals are designed, there is a greater chance of hitting the positive terminal while undoing the negative :-D

... the bodywork?

Show me a picture of the spanner you are using, never seen one that can touch the bodywork from where the battery is located! :-D
